Indeed they do have some rare airframes there. They have one of the F-107 prototypes! (apologies that I couldn't get any photos of that due to a dead battery)

Next time that I'm there, I will be better prepared. And on the lookout for any new additions. They looked to have several aircraft in various stages of restoration on the back areas of the site. And since Davis Monathan aircraft graveyard is right next door, I suspect that they get more new stuff on occasion.

Great photo's! Thanks for posting!

One of the worlds great aviation museums!

I went many times in 1983/84 when I was based at Willie. I have to make it back one day.

Back then they only had one hanger.

Some of the stuff the have is VERY rare.

There are some great airframes in their collection, and it's dog friendly! My lab Dexter and I stopped there on the last leg of a road trip from Texas. I will definitely be going back. Hopefully with Dex!

Yes, the stuff in the hangars, there are five, was mostly immaculate. Aside from the Wildcat, which looks on the fuselage sides to have been fished out of some deep water, the rest are all in showroom condition.

The outdoors aircraft vary from very nice to "help me!". Wink Too much good stuff in there.

Don't think I've ever seen a real Tiger, let alone a Blue Angle.  And so pretty!

Thanks,

John

This past weekend, I went with a friend out to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson located next to Davis Monathan AFB. I reall have to say “WOW” about that place. It has one of the most comprehensive collections that I have yet seen in an air museum. I’ll share a few photos here

some air team aircraft

a Tomcat in one of my favorite marking schemes

an original Phantom

An overview of some of the outdoor displays

This C-130 I had to photograph, as it was from the Tennessee ANG, who flew support for my class in Jump School at Ft Benning once upon a time. I had to wonder if I had jumped from this particular Herky Bird.

There is even a museum within the museum, dedicated to the 390th Bomb Group, that has a complete WWII history of that Group in WWII.

Long story short, I took slightly over 100 photos, and would have taken far more, until my phone battery was on its last legs. Here is a link to my postimage album with the rest of the photos

If you’re ever in the Tucson area, make it a goal to see this place! It’s an all day affair.
