Got my ticket for new year.
Posted by wpwar11 on Saturday, December 31, 2022 3:44 PM

Saw this on another modeling site.  Had to share it.  Tonight is the most over-rated, over hyped, and worst night of the year to go out.  Even when I was young I hated New Year's Eve.  Stay home.

Couldn't agree more. Yes

Amateur drinkers and idiot drivers is always a bad combination. Sad

I can't even keep my eyes open long enough to see the ball drop from the comfort of my couch, never mind going somewhere.

The only times I was ever up was when I happen to be finishing a 4×12 shift

Hey Armornut, if you were here in Hawaii, you'd be witness to a pyrotechnic spectacle akin to downtown Baghdad when Desert Storm kicked off.  Certain neighborhoods have illegal fireworks launching from every block for miles.

Back in the day, I didn't mind it when a couple of scofflaws did their annual amateur fireworks display.  But when the entire neighborhood lights up like the Death Star blowing up, my patience is at its end.

The morons who fire those concussion grenade rockets have my deepest hate.  Those things don't even have a pretty light show.  There's just a black sihouette with a dull red rocket exhaust, then an earth-shattering boom.

I'm gonna stay home and build a model.  Join in on the fun, the rules are simple:

- It must be a new, unstarted kit

- Work till midnight or until you fall asleep

- Finish the model hopefully during 2023

And that's it!

Sorry to hear that you are jaded about fireworks RG, HOWEVER I totally understand, we have nearly had our carport burned down by an unruly " neighbor" with bottle rockets, fortunately he didn't find out that MY boom stick made WAY more noise....and was ALOT more accurate. We also get our fair share of homemade actelene bombs that go off within a couple miles and rattle our windows. Dogs poop themselves, I just listen for the ambulance. By all means have FUN JUST BE SAFE.

Never really did anything for new years eve or day. Going to bed early tonight because I'm recovering from injuring my back.

Fireworks already started near me an hour ago and I am pretty sure some of them are illega. Just hoping the fireworks don't get too bad and I can sleep.

Take care GreySnake, and hope you feel better soon!

I tried staying awake till midnight the last time.  I made it to 11:30 when the "Crescendo of Doom" din of fireworks starts to intensify.  My last thought was "Aaand here it comes..."

And then I woke up at 6:00 the next morning.  Indifferent  I can't imagine how I slept through that thundering racket and smoke.  Yeah, the smoke gets into the house.

Here, here Armornut!  And a Happy New Year to all.

I managed to stay up till 1:30 working on model.  According to local news, fireworks permit sales were down this year, but illegal rocket sales must have been robust judging from the continuous howls, shrieks, and earth-shattering thuds last night.  I got off easy apparently, as my friend said the ground was shaking from the explosions.  His 1/700 ship guns kept falling off the bench!

I worked on the figure I am doing for the figure GB. Eventually fell asleep to be woken by the official fireworks and went downstairs to bed.

Happy New Year to all. I it brings peace and good health.
