Owners of RING devices--make sure that you record the PIN number--
Posted by JohnnyK on Monday, January 16, 2023 1:54 PM

Every RING device comes with a 5 digit PIN number. The number is located on the box and on the installation guide. It also may be on the back of the device. Make sure that you record this number!!!  I did not record my device PIN numbers because RING does not mention the importance of recording those numbers. Yesterday I tried to change the network of my Ring doorbell from my WIFI network to my RING network. I can't make that change because I do not know the PIN number of the RING doorbell. This really stinks.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Just points up something my old man taught me as a little shaver: NEVER throw away the paperwork/manual/installation guide/ whatever.

Sure, after he passed we found guides for items that hadn't existed for decades -- a fun 'walk down memory lane' -- but I can't tell you the number of times my butt has been saved by being able to look up an odd instruction, part number...or sometimes the proper way to take a damn thing apart. Just a file folder or notebook tucked away somewhere can save lots of time and grief! Wink

Well, I guess on the plus side you know that its not easy for someone to hijack your doorbell.  Clown

Its only 100K choices. You should be able to crack that pretty quick in interstellar terms.
