I built one kit for my eldest son's employer about 30 years ago, great pressure and never did it again. When I mention my hobby, people can't understand why I take time model building but don't sell them!

Remember , common sense is not common.

I think that you made the right decision tanker-builder. It's time to build for yourself and to enjoy the hobby without the other"pressures" associated with building for commission.  I thoroughly enjoy building a kit for someone as a present or as a special remembrance for an individual's family.  I will no longer build for a contest's " Special Theme" and I'm limiting my participation in group builds on You Tube.  Life is too short to worry about other people's "opinions" or likes & dislikes.  Too many kits and too little time!

Hi!

I know this is late, But with my health problems It had to wait. The April Train Show is in the past now. No Ships or Boats were to be had except a few older Diecast rail tugs for Lionel. Anyway this isn't about me finding more stuff to use for scratchbuilding. It's about The "Charles W. Munson" The Lakes freighter I built for my Client and the two tugs . The Tugs: The "Neptune" (My Company's logo) and the other with a different logo. They were Walthers Model kits so their assembly was fairly straightforward. They were in H.O.(1/87) scale.

Now the freight ship was a kit also. A Vac-Formed model of a Great Lakes freighter. Parts were missing so it had to be a compromise between modern and Late fifties/Early sixties type. Well, that was the right call. The client's jaw dropped when I delivered them and that was, for me the icing on the cake. My last commission ended badly because of problems I kept running into. The Commission for "Spring Creek Model Trains" of Deshler, Nebraska will be my last regular commission. It was a Long and fruitful run. Almost 62 years doing it. Now I will build Only for me. I have already started a Plane and a Race car and I forgot how much fun they were. Oh, I will still build ships, but only selected subjects.
