Frankly it's gotten to the point that I can't see how anyone can use most sites without ad-block.

I tried watching a 2hour 45min video on YouTube with the boss's PC at work over the weekend. After an hour and 45mins with 26 friggin' ads I gave up! And three were over a half-hour and one 45 mins!?!?! Does anyone out there actually watch 30min to an hour ads????

Yes,I Belong to a lot of forums, and I really don't mind the ads along the sides or between posts,it's the cost of doing business, but like you said, here the video windows  pop up right in the of your post, destroy your reply.I have to say, this is the only site that I acess using my ad blocking software, just can't deal sith it.

I was on several websites that claimed "You need to disable Adblock to receive the best experience." One I had to allow but all the other warnings I just ignored and never had a problem.

Well, I installed Ad Blocker- so far working great.

My laptop went belly-up last week.  I used my wive for visits to my dialysis clinic where I take online courses to pass the time.  I noticed she had Adblocker installed.  I'll bet my daughter put it on.

Microsoft Defender isn't terribly useful, but it should be no problem for it to be left turned on.  I haven't had it interfere with a single thing so far, although I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing with a security application.  That being said, whatever job it is intended to do doesn't have anything to do with ads and whether or not they'll be displayed.  That's all in your browser.

Microsoft Defender is Microsoft's anti-virus application, built in to Windows.  I agree with Gary; I'd leave it as it currently is on your machine.

Okay, I broke down and installed AdBreaker.  Should I turn off Microsoft Defender?

Unless it interferes with other programs, leave it alone.  Personally, I've no idea what Microsoft Defender defends against.  Seems useless to me.

An ad blocker is almost dejure on the internet today.  I don't know how many sites contain the words "Please disable your ad blocker".  No, no I won't.  If I cannot look at your content with my ad blocker abled, I really don't need too.

I'm of the opposite mindset. If I need an ad blocker to regularly participate on a site, I don't need to be on that site.

Well the above mentioned Armorama is a top notch site, the Kitmaker network is excellent,so you'd be missing a lot,but to each his own.

I was once one of its top editors and contributors; their old photo site was hundreds of photos I uploaded and took from my motor pool when I commanded a US Army maintenance site from 2001-2005 and many new vehicles being tested at Fort Knox from 2005 until about 2010.

I used to sponsor awards for local New England IPMS shows in Armorama's name. I'd usually get a bunch of folks to donate $5 a piece to me and I'd chip in enough to cover a category or if I had enough donations, I'd sponsor more than one award.

I even hosted an open house at Fort Devens, Massachusetts for folks in the area dvertised through Armorama giving folks the ability to take photos of modern armor and ride in an M113A3. I even taught an old M60A2 tanker how to drive an Abrams tank.

But I was made persona non grata about a dozen years ago. Doubtful I've made a dozen visits since then.

With adblocker here, I see nothing beyond FSM's own current issue or other publications they sell.

Well, at least they have the decency to say "Please". I still say "No".

My thoughts exactly.  If I have to disable my ad blocker to look at your site, then it becomes a "Well, I didn't know about your site before...so there's nothing to miss if I don't get to see it today.  Oh well."

No other modeling forums require add blocking software... why add more stuff on your computer that is unnecessary elsewhere?

Missing lynx does as well as HyperScale. And when I last visited Armorama, it asked me to disable my adblocker.

I use I believe AdBlocker as well. I've actually forgotten which blocker I loaded onmy computer because I set it up a few years ago and just let it run.Works great, pretty sure it's AdBlocker. Anyway, I see no ads here.

You cannot use this forum unless you have some kind of ad blocker.  Sad, but true.  I use NoScript.

Yup.  The ads have officially defeated their own purpose.  They either drive traffic to other forums, or they make it so people who want to continue contributing content which brings traffic...to use ad blockers.  I understand their purpose, but the ads here are completely out of balance with their intended function.  No problems for me anymore though, since I use AdBlock.  I can type away with no interruptions.  Cool

I have been in and out of the forum over the years and recents return now finds that this thing is loaded with a barrage of ads! They keep popping up and makes difficult to even type or posts entries. I keep having to recenter my curser to even type one sentence. Don't know if i want to keep at it.
