Carlos, didn't you build a model Vampire? I love that airplane.

I've always liked that story, it's spooky. It's a better genre, IMO, for Forsyth than his sexy potboilers. Although I love Day of the Jackal.

Yes, I have a Vampire jet build that was boxed up and sidelined due to moving to AZ. I still haven't resumed that project yet. Perhaps later this year.

Haven't read Day of the Jackal myself, only saw the film. But I have read The Dogs of War, and I see much similarity in his background detail work in both.

Hi!

In my long life, I have had relatives who flew in W.W.2 and Korea tell of Myths like this. Does that ring true? Well, "There is more in the Sea and Sky, Horatio than we shall ever know,:" I believe is the quote. The stories brought out on film, I don't know, this one I will have to see. Besides, I like looking at how they do the old birds!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I enjoyed it. Much more enjoyable for me than all the Hallmark Holiday movies... Ick!

My wife and I watched "The Shepherd" when it debuted on Disney+ and we did enjoy the story. The story did seem a bit contrived but who cares. I think Disney did an OK job depicting the story. I look forward to seeing "The Shepherd" again next Christmas.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

I watched it and thought it was okay

I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned

That looks a little interesting to me. Might check that out this weekend.

Well this just ruined my day! Some short stories and novels should just be left alone! Travolta should just stay in his 707.

On the bench: A diorama to illustrate the crash of a Beech T-34B Mentor which I survived in 1962 (I'm using Minicraft's 1/48 model of the Mentor), and a Pegasus model of the submarine Nautilus of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas fame.

Hmmm...  I'm not sure how I feel about this, as "The Shepherd" is one of my favorite Christmas stories, right up there with "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Rudolph".  Stick out tongue

I had first heard of "The Shepherd" while listening to NPR while Christmas shopping, and I ended up sitting in the car in the parking lot to the end.  Being that we are model-minded folk, visualizing the Vampire running out of fuel and the appearance of the pathfinder Mosquito was really vivid.  A great spooky Christmas story for sure.  I hope Disney doesn't muck it up.

This looks good.  The classic Christmas tale of a lost pilot who is rescued by a ghost.

With John Travolta.  Hope it lives up to the novella!
