Giving Thanks!
Posted by DRUMS01 on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 3:34 PM

Jarrod and I want to take this time before the American Holiday "Thanksgiving" to broaden the celebration a little. While Americans celebrate tomorrow honoring a part of the countries beginnings, we want to thank the members here for your fellowship. Thanks to our Administrators as well for without them this forum would not be what it is.

So wherever and whomever you may be take a moment to consider all the things you are thankful for. Sit back and have a drink of your choice and savor the moment, or sit back and pull out a model kit and enjoy the build.

For our brothers and sisters struggling in parts of the world, Jarrod and I hope and pray for your health, peace, protection, freedom, and comfort for each of you; regardless your race, religion, location, sex, etc.

Good wishes to you all!

Ben and Jarrod

While I here peple scream about how the economy iss tanking, the record inflation (4%) and such, statistics show the majority of Americans are overweight or obese.  Huh!  That does not figure.  I am thankful for alwaus having enough to eat, and not worry about where the next meal is coming from.  My understanding is that Americans spend less money as a percent of oncome than almost any other country.

BTW I was a homeowner in the 80s and 90s when inflation was running in the 14 - 18% range!

Ben and Jarrod -

The very best wishes for your family, the same as you express for us. The people of this Earth could use a lot of kindness at these times, so many know nothing about a healthy and happy life, having not experienced it for them.

I hold out hope for those that are suffering and have literally nothing, I often reflect on the circumstances of my life compared to those that struggle daily to just survive, in complete awe and appreciation for myself, but also sadness for those that are suffering every day of their lives.

Like you, Ben, I have a good buddy in my special needs nephew, 38 years old Danny. I get to coach him in Special O bowling, swimming and golf, and we go flyfishing for trout regurly in the summer. These are the special times for me, gutter balls and big grass divits don't matter much, and we don't mind if we come home from the fishing hole empty handed, we were having fun together. I'm really thankful for those times.

Looking forward to your next build, guys.

I think that you're getting a couple of things confused...

Inflation has nothing to do with body weight, aside from the cost of food going up and up. And if a person eats healthy and keeps physically active, they are less likely to be overweight or obese.

I think you're confusing interest rates of the 80's/90's with inflation. Yes, interest rates were up in the teens during that era, not inflation. Even during the worst inflation of the 70's, it wasn't as bad as you posted.
