I saw many good comments about Ad Aware, so I decided to install it. Big problem- It blocks many sightsI want to visit ( like my state dept of revenue ans so many others. I cannot find a way to give these sites permission. Then I decided to uninstall it. Couldn't do it!
Adaware is an antivirus and antispyware application, not an ad blocker. So it might not have been the right choice for this scenario. But in any case, there probably is a way to whitelist/trust, etc, specific sites and to blacklist or block others. There must be a way to uninstall it, too. You might need to get help to do it; that's just our digital age.
If you're running Windows, you can go to Settings (click the little gear icon in the bar across the bottom of the window), and then either use the Search box and search on "uninstall", or look for Apps in the menu on that page, click that, and then you should see a choice to install and uninstall applications. From there, you should see a list of the applications installed on your machine, and Adaware should be somewhere in that list, and you should be able to uninstall it from there.
In Adaware itself, there should be an "About Adaware" in the menus, like under Help, and that might also get you to an Unistall feature.
I can't speak to other operating systems, like Apple's devices, but they should be similar in that they should eventually get to you a place where you can uninstall an application. Understood, if you're not as experienced, knowledgeable, or comfortable doing it, but I'd bet someone in your immediate circle may have the experience and can help.
It's frustrating, I know. And I work in IT, in application development. The technology we've built for ourselves can be very useful, but it can also be a royal pain in the butt.
Good luck, though!
