Addition to my work area
Posted by Having-fun on Thursday, February 29, 2024 3:38 PM

Hello there!

As I have discussed before in another post, I always looking for ways to make my modeling work area more efficient. I went ahead and designed a table with wheels that have a device attached to the top that allows it to raise or lower such top. Sometimes I either need to work on the lower part of the model or the top of the model, this top allows me to lower or raise the model as needed.

Following is a photo with the top down:

Top down

Now with the top in up position:

Top up

And finally a photo of the device that allows this movement:

Notice on the left hand side the level that is turned to have the top go up or down. Under the table top I added 2 drawers to increase my storage and left the bottom open so I can store large items. The top can be raise almost 10 inches.

Hope you guys like it

Until next time

Joe

Hi Joe! Now that's a nifty idea.I would do something similar but for a lack of room I have repurposed a desk. With two Ott lights I have about 16" X 30" work area.I just move my old chair up and down unless it decides to do it on it's own.(It, The desk chair is probably twenty years old(Sometimes it lowers by itself.Oh well, like me it gets tired)

That's a great idea! No one's mentioned it yet, but another benefit of an adjustable surface like that is that if you want to stand and work, you can raise the top and stand.  Or at least, that design could be expanded to raise to greater height and allow standing.  Like adjustable desks that have become popular.  I had one at my office and I alternated through the day between sitting and standing.  When we bugged out for the lockdowns, though, I left it behind, because I didn't have a horizontal surface here at home, big enough to accommodate it.  I wish now I had.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
