Books! About Battles in History!

Howdy Ya'll!

This here's about them book things. Yup! The ones you get from a Bookstore or Library! I was able to get, from my local Library. a whole selection of P.T.Deutermann's stories about W.W.2 in the Pacific. I gotta tell you, it's a wonder some person of Japanese decent hasn't raised a stink! There are many referrals to what Halsey said after Pearl Harbor, Right in the books in plain english!

That said, you get a good feel for the equipment used by both sides and what they thought of each other's culture, At That Time! Remember, Japan was just starting a push outwards for fuel oil and other stuff. They had already invaded China and Manchuria looking for Minerals etc. And Yes, the trearment they bestowed was that which came out of Bushido! Which no one else had ever heard of!

That said any fan of the battle history of both sides would might enjoy reading them. True the stories are NOT told from the Japanese side at any time. But the books will ce,ent the hell Americans, Australians and yes the Brits too, went through at the hands of the Japanese! If they Surrendered. That wasn't something the Japanese looked respectfully at. Either way Good Books, hard to put down and very much readable!  T.B.

I'm a fan of second hand book stores. My area outside of Fort Knox has three different Goodwills and several thrift and second hand stores.

I pick up many good books at Goodwill for a whopping 99¢. Books like We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down, Team Yankee, etc.

And countless Stephen King books.

Aha!

Excellent all! There is a certain something about the characters in these books. Believable and yet a little out there sometimes. Hoorah for all! The last of Deutermann's was about Glory? in the Pacific. the Secondary character in the book had experienced so much, and so often, that in his last command on a Radar Picket he lost it! The GQ alarm would go of and he'd freeze!

His XO saw this and after talking to him, assumed command. It was agreed between the two. The relieved Commander was virtually a vegetable after the last Kamikaze hit the ship. This is edge of your seat stuff. These books certainly explain in plain english,  the mental horrors of war on responsible people!

Where I used to live the local church would have a fundraising used books sale every year during the fall festival carnival. Usually it was $.50 for paperbacks and $1 -$3 for hardcovers. I added a LOT of books to my personal library from there over the years. Some real good ones.
