INFANTRY?????     I was attached to mud movers rather than mud sloggers.  Didn't think much of spending time in rice paddies or jungle.   But haven't got the hardware to drop air to ground destroyers anymore...lol

Oh great I see the revell a-10 on here a few times. That one is sitting in my closet awaiting building, think it may collect a bit more dust after reading this thread.

 Currently cursing Tamiya's Panther ausf a kit. Having a lot of issues with fitment kinda disappointed as older tamiya kits have been good to me in the past. Couple these issues with my first use of photoetch and this kit has been a nightmare so far. For a simple kit it is taking me hours longer to assemble than models with 4 times as many parts.

Ah, the Revell 1/48 A-10 wasn't that bad but you do want to have a full tube of putty. It actually came out fairly good. The potential is there and even though I didn't due it total justice it does look mean when finished!

My Italeri/Testors M7 Priest is possessed! Hull? didn't come close to fitting right and I swearif I just look at it a "grab" handle just falls off!! I got it off Ebay for $12 and knew it was an old kit, but not 1960s old....It's stamped  Italaerei!

Academy 1/48 f-86F. The one with the seperate engine that can go on the cart. Tried 3 times. It beat me down. Never did complere it. It isn't complex, just badly designed I guess. Nothing fit, seams were bad, panel lines mismatched.

I've had several nice kits that I snatched defeat, right out of the jaws of victory! Always my own doing...I think! Glue one piece knock off three...still don't understand how I ever finished...felt like I was doing nothing but going backwards!

While this one doesn't quite fit this scenario...as it was a crappy kit before I even cut the tape to open the box. I did have to finish it, for a review build. Had I paid money for it, I would have just stuck it in the stash and then given to my nephew when I got mad at him!

And great laugh there Fermis, I did think a few times about stomping this kit...

my worst - Lindberg 1:130 scale Capt. Kidd Pirate ship. The molder had a 'warped' sense of humor... literally! Nothing fit correctly. Add that to brittle plastic and... this kit was a 'snap'. 

AMT 1925 ford c cab fruit truck.   Fenders warped... Supercharger too short to connect to the pully assembly...body a scale foot thick on one side so the interior wont fit without a lot of sanding...ejector marks all over the pickup bed...stock spoke whells ofset in the mold so the spokes are "blurry"...the kit includes 3 cab floors but only 1 fits. the others are too wide  too long and one is even short shot and warped. All the crome parts are marred by the sprue gates connecting them to the trees. The molds were cut wrong.... one side has door hinges the other none.

I could go on but I put it back in the box two months ago to teach it a lesson!!!

All Czech kits are the same, they require good modeling skills. I would never suggest a Czech kit as a first build to anyone. I own several Czech kits and have a project shelved fir the time being due to landing gear issues. I am deciding if i want to scrap the landing gear and close the bays. This has been a 3 year decision. LOL!

   Can you say a large trash can full of plastic ? That is until I learned about what if's . By the way , Since I been doing this so darned long I have had more than one that I thought was a waste of time .

     The worst for me at the time was a Palmer Buick coupe .Hdtp ? This thing was toast in about an hour . Now , I build them all  , Why ? Well at 73 , I think models make great time machines . T.B.

Just finished a Revell X-15 that was the kit from hell. Body halves didn't fit correctly, and the strut in the middle of the canopy was broken. I had to make a new one out of a bit of sprue, and the body halves took so much sanding I finally lost interest and just primed and painted the thing. It's gonna hang in my office, and since everybody tells me I don't have enough light in there, hopefully nobody will see all the flaws. 

KP 1/72 Jak 23. Kit was moulded in the 60's. So much flash you can build another model from the waste. 

Yikes, just the mention of the name CyberHobby gives me chills!  Worst kit I ever attempted, CyberHobby (Dragon) kit of a 1/35 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen armored railcar.  More of the parts did NOT fit than did fit, furiously vague instructions, needlessly complex steps (modling cetain features as multiple parts that could have easily been molded as one with no loss of detail or functionality), etc.  I said "attempted" as it never quite made it to completion.  Oh well, at least it gave me some good parts for the spares box...

I've seen some really interesting replies here, epsecially the 48th scale Academy Sabre.  That's a gem of a kit.  As for the 48th scale Monogram A-10, I had a few small issues but all in all it wasn't too bat a kit, in my opinion.

My AAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHH kits were an AMT / ERTL 73 Mustang Mach 1 and a Hobbycraft Canada Dash 8.  Both were gifts.  Now both are landfill somewhere.

Oh hell yes, didn't finish mine either. 

I am fighting one now. My C-118 finally got a decent coat of paint after a year some months fighting it. I applied the decals and shot a clear coat over them to seal them iin. The clearcoat cracked my metal finish, despiute it having gassed out weeks before. I tried masking to reshoot the metallic color and the masking lifted part of the decals.

Man, I cannot win.....

This is the first time that I've looked at something that I've invested both time and resources on, and thought "I'm going to throw it in the trash."

When I opened the box, the sprues were coated with a weird oily substance (mold release?) which was difficult to wash off. Additionally, there was small pinhole-sized pitting on some surfaces. Strange.

Then the real problems began. 

The cowling was in three pieces (why?), and without locator pins. Fit was terrible. The cockpit would not fit into the fuselage no matter how much sanding and refitting  tried. I simply gave up and built it without a cockpit. 

The fuselage also lacks locator pins and was very difficult to properly situate, and the engine would not fit into the cowling unless I removed a substantial portion of the engine itself.

The last straw was the upper wing and struts. The cabane struts attached to the upper wing alright, but the wing struts were about an eighth of an inch to short and did not connect with the upper wing. Not to mention the fact that the decals were a weird flourescent yellow color. 

Arrgghh! Trash can.
