Supplies in the Philippines...
Posted by shrikes on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 8:55 AM
It happens every time I read an article in FSM... I'm reading about some great way to modify a tank or plane when something is mentioned that I can't get a hold of here in Manila. It's very frustrating. All of these things like bare metal foil or styrene or some such.

So, here's my question: Where do you guys get your kits, tools, supplies and aftermarket kits?!? The shops I frequent are: "Special Toys" in Virramall and "Lil's" in Megamall... where else can I go for these things? Allan? Dwight Ta-ala? Comments and suggestions?

Hi shrikes, nice to have you aboard. I use to frequent those shops myself when I was there. Regarding the styrenes, I know those shops sells them. Why don't you check out Special Toys branch in Quiapo & Cubao and also Lil's(I think it's Lil's) in Park Square in Makati. If you can't find any of these stuff in the market there maybe you should purchase them thru the internet or mail order. Maybe the other Filipino modelers on this forum could help you out too. Good luck & happy hunting.Smile [:)]

We really have difficulties getting modeling supplies here in the Philippines even in Metro Manila. Selection of paints are very limited and incomplete. Specialty decal sheets almost non-existent.Selection of kits also limited. Other hobby shops you can visit are JMN's Hobby Shop in Harrison Plaza, Hobbies and Comics in Makati Cinema Square, Accurate Model Works in SM Southmall and Special Toys in Festival Mall

Shrikes,

Alex and nkm have already mentioned the names of most shops. I would also recommend most of the arts supplies stores in Quiapo area. They usually sell items used in archictectural scale models like plastic sheets, compressed foamboards, foliage, etc.

I also recommend a lot of creativity in dealing with the lack of materials and tools.

Good luck.
