Got started building lastnight!
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 20, 2003 9:51 AM
I got started building lastnight! Started on my VW Bug...so far its been fun. I even stole a kit from Chris!Big Smile [:D] So I'm actually doing two kits. The bug and a #3 Dale Earnhardt car.Wink [;)] The body on the race car is already done because its a pro finish?Question [?] It still has some stickers I have to put on but Im hoping to have it done tonight! The VW is taking a little bit longer though. I worked on both well after Chris went to bed lastnight. Big Smile [:D]

Is there somewhere I should ask questions about stickers?Question [?]

On a side note: I told Chris to go get a Bug so all 3 of us would have one to build. So he's going to be stopping by the hobby shop on the way home from Montgomery, unless he finds a hobby shop up there! Which knowing him he will!Sign - Dots [#dots]
Thanks,
Diane

Hey, way to go! It's addicting once you get started isn't it? Pretty soon you won't be able to wait for that damn paint to dry so you can start on your next coat. Big Smile [:D] Try the decal forum for advice on the Earnhardt car, you'd get the best replies there. As an aside, i wish my parents were as cool as the two of you... Cool [8D] best of luck and show us the VW once you're done with it! Smile [:)]

You mean you only stole one of his kits Diane !!!!! Shock [:O]

You should really help yourself to a couple more.

Especially from the stock of 500 kits he has hidden away.

Glad to hear you're having fun ! Two kits at once . Chris
won't have a kit to build if he doesn't get busy. Your family build
is a great idea. Cool [8D] Post some pictures and keep us updated.
Shrikes is right check the decal forum.

I will be sure to have Chris post Pictures of all 3 Bugs once they are done and the film is back. 500 kits? Are you sure about that? LOL

Well I will be getting off early today and I hope to get home and do some more work on them. So far it has been fun. Frosty Chris suggested spraying a silver under coat for the Saphire Blue as well.

Fuzzy from what ShermanFreak said I dont think Chris has to worry about running out of kits! Of course what he does have to explain is where they are all hidden and how he got so many!

Diane it is great that your family is doing a group build. Have you picked out your first plane kit? With Chris' 500 kit stash you should be able to find something nice! LOLTongue [:P]

Welcome to the hobbu, Diane. I'm sure you're going to love it.

Good luck on the bug, and I swear that Chris does not have a stash of 500 kits. He would have told me about something like that. Besides, it's closer to 750...Whistling [:-^]

I've been married for 30 years to the same gal. I cook for a living and the two of us bearly talerat each other in the kitchen at the same time. We do share the same "Craft Room", as we call it, and are always after each other for hiding tools and such, on each other.
If we were to do a joint model project I don't think we'd make it to the 31st.
I wish you the best.

Can't wait to see the finished Bugs Diane! I'm sure you're going to enjoy yourself and this is a great "family" hobby. Big Smile [:D]

Hey Chris, I meant to tell you, the warehouse I have down there is getting sold. You'll need to get your stash of 5000 kits moved by the end of the month....you do have somewhere to store them...right?? Wink [;)]Mischief [:-,] Mischief [:-,] Evil [}:)] Big Smile [:D]

HAHAHA ERIC you know what they say about paybacks!

Just an Update....Diane has finished her #3 Dale Earnhardt NASCAR...Well with the exception of decaling it...I shot a pic of it but ran out of film on that roll. Will shoot some more pics and hope to do one hour photo at Wally World this weekend so we can post pics....She was a lil dissapointed because the body doesnt sit right on it and the roll cage can be seen lower than its supposed to be....but I told her not to worry. No one would notice that in a pic least I hope not! Anywho....just figured I would let yall know

Chris, seems like my wife has talked to yours and let her in on a few secrets of kit stealing! From now on if you buy a cool kit better get 2 cause you'll loose one to her. Guess we can't complain though.
Oh and welcome to the forum Diane, and what ever my wife may say about controling the models around here , don't listen I just let her think that Wink [;)]

That's what you get for those ebay binges, Chris. At least I know what kits my wife would like, so I don't buy those. Wink [;)] Keeps her from taking them.

Can't wait to see the Earnhardt car.

Man o man. Try and help a fellow modeler out of a tight spot
by covering his six o'clock and laying a smoke screen while he's out of town and some body lets the cat out of the bag. Sorry Chris did my
best but it just wasn't enough.Sigh [sigh]
Firstlady, enjoy building the kit and apply lessons learned to the next one . Keep learning and improving your models at your pace.
Don't worry ,as long as you're having fun you're doing it right !
Good advice from a friend of mine just thought I'd
share it. Looking forward to the pictures.

Diane.

Bring all of Chris model kits to the convention next year. We will give you a good price for them. He wont miss them. Don't worry about Chris. He has already told me he is planning on buying several hundred models while he is there anyway.Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Diane, I understand that you're giving Chris some competition in the build department. We can help ease any ego bruising. Just bring his stuff to the convention and raffle it off. You'll wind up with money to buy new kits. He won't mind gettin rid of those really old ones he has hidden in the footlocker under the workbench in the garage!Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Wink [;)]Wink [;)]
