Then I have 3 or 4 where I am serving as a consultant / flash trimmer / sharp instrument wielder for my kids.

Last year, I decided to get rid of 380+ kits after realizing that at 45, I wouldn't have the time in my life to finish them. I have less than 50 now, thanks to eBay.

Why do some of you dislike eBay so much? I feel that if I post an old model, someone that really wants it now get it to build. Better on someone's bench than collecting dust in my garage.

Until recently, I didn't have much inventory. Now I'm up to 14 kits with one on the way and 4 in various build. With the Panther build starting Monday, I will start another and let the others languish longer. I totally intend to build what I have, but who knows when they will get built. My guess is my collection will gradually continue to grow as do the unfinished.

I have no kits unbuilt. i have 1 kit, build it, then buy a new one. my parents are uber strict. oh well. I live in singapore, my postal adress is 50 monsk hill road, #07-50 singapore 228576 you know what to do with unwanted kits, right ?

I've got somewhere around 90 kits. They are all in 2 cupboards and easily accessible. I don't have the problem of "forgetting" I had any specific one, but I do forget the quality of some and wonder why they were bought when they were. Will I ever finish them all? Of course, I'm optimistic I'll win the national lottery this week and can retire and spend all and every day building!

I can't win for losing. When I can afford to buy the kits I don't have much time to build them.. And vice-versa.

About a month ago I had nearly 360 unbuilt kits, 236 of which I recently bought from another collector. I have sold about 180 of them on ebay (I love ebay), maybe some of you guys were my buyers! I suppose when my "selling project" is done I will have 140 or so kits left for my personal collection.

Over the course of time my interests change and I decide to "trade" some kits for other kits. Ebay has really helped me learn about kits of all types, sell the ones I no longer want, and obtain my new interests. My buying goes in spurts; I'll buy a couple of kits per week for a while and then nothing for a few months.

I have 14 kits at various stages of completion, and one waiting to go on Monday. Sheesh, and my parents complain about the number of kits I have.

Maybe 2 dozen, all started. DJ Would you consider selling some of your extras ?

I think I have the low score here. I have 1 kit sitting on the shelf , 1 being built and 1 being prepped to start on monday. And my wife complains that I buy to many kits, please let her read this thread.

25 with one on the way in the mail. When this one arrives it will give me all 4 of the Trumpeter 1/350 WW2 carriers (Hornet, Essex, Yorktown & Franklin). Expensive, but worth it. I've started at least 10 of them.

Dave, my family did something like that to me one Christmas. They took three of my books, including one with my bookplate in the front, wrapped it and put them under the tree. They had a couple of other presents stashed in another room. They did it just to see the expression on my face when I realized that I'd gotten my own stuff back.

70 some kits, 15+ started, three major projects. Yes I would notice if I got a recycled kit. I always take out the instructions and decals when I inspect the kit. These are then stored flat, sorted by subject and scale. The kits are packed up and stashed 75 miles away on the farm but the instructions and decals are on my desk. The instructions are in an expand a file and the decals are in a photo album for easy access and viewing. Plus the fact I write the date recieved and purchase or gift info on the inside of the lid or flap. Yeah I'd notice. Never a suprise, I have a master list.

I have'nt done a count recently but I recon I'm up to 60-70 unbuilt kits in the back of my workshop. I've also got 3 kits in various stages of productions and 2 in my unfinished box of shame
No-one in my family are allowed to buy me kits for Christmas
-my wifes instructions! so I won't be given one re-packaged this year!

I had been thinking the same, Gip... Maybe post a list of what's available and what you'd like in exchange.

Went through my kits the other evening, and rediscovered an old Peerless Max 155mm towed howitzer. I've got to finish that thing!

Just last night I was admiring, oops, I mean organizing, my unbuilt models. I would guess I have about 100 kits of things that go fast on the ground and an equal number of things that go fast in the air. Add a couple of armor kits (I'm diversifying), a couple of ships, one dinosour, a visible woman (for my daughter), and a visible V-8 (for my other daughter), and the total just tops 200. I would guess I also have 30 or so "minor" kits - figures, support equipment, and the like. I have about 8 kits nearly finished, awaiting inspiration, four or five started but quit in disgust (either a major goof on my part or on the part of the manufacturer), and another 3 actively underway.

Yes, I would notice a rewrapped kit for Christmas. Oddly enough, when I went through my inventory last night, there were no surprises - I know every kit I have purchased. If only my memory were that good in other areas! Another observation - except for a few duplicates, almost every kit has has been unwrapped and inspected. I intend to build them all; I'm no collector.

I am just now restarting the hobby after a 4 year break. There have been some great releases in the past few years. I am still buying far faster than I am building, but I plan to have a very productive winter. So many models, so little time....

hehe I think I'm too bloody-minded to give up on anything (or more likely, too mean!), but it did come close with the Airfix 1/72 Hunter FGA9. It seemed a very poor kit compared to most of the Academy and Hasegawa stuff I have, even if the overall shape is good.

David, that's a scary thought! But now that I've got my list, and that I'm the only one tall enough to reach the loft, I'm safe (well, I like to think so)..

U-96, no, that's 50 odd kits that I started and then gave up on... Some like the Aifix Devastator, have been waiting like that since 1991... On average I've gat about 10-15 'on the go', of which 2-3 are 'full timers' and the rest 'occasionals'.

Interesting note: If Chris doesn't want Diane to find out about his hidden kit, why post it on the forum? Seems kinda silly to me... but hey, that's Chris for ya!
