Another E-bay Scam

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just once. I've deleted, without opening, a good half dozen for Pay Pal in the last week alone. I've never delt with PayPal so I never open them.

I wouldnt recomend that course of action as you could wind up in some hot water....still would be nice to see them get a taste of thier own medecine! Of course sometimes some of the emails come from some poor saps account that got hacked...I know this is a big problem on AOHELL......I guess Im lucky...Ive only gotten 2 of these spoof emails that I can recall.

I get a few of these a month for Ebay and Paypal. I've also started getting these for services I don't even use. These crooks need to have a surprise sent back to them in an e-mail. Mischief [:-,]

Like Swanny said earlier never do anything through email...Always take car of business on the main site. Also EBAY Paypal and many other sites Specify that they will never ask for password or CC info in an email....

I have received this one along with the PayPal one and one supposedly from Citibank credit card company. I forwarded all of them to the proper authorities for investigation. This is what's known as a "spoof" email in that it appears to be from the real company but if you click on the link it is usually a non-registered URL with nothing more than an IP address of numbers. They are getting better.

There are characters out there who will send you a notice like the afforementioned, or one letting you know your eBay account will be suspended if you don't provide updated information. The GUI looks legit, but look at the IP address at the top. If it has anything listed other than eBAy, it's an obvious crock of you-know-what. I get at least two to three per month. I notify eBay security and an anti-fraud site that eBay refers you to.

This is a common scam. Never, ever put your password into an email screen. Any time you get a notice like that you should access the main page of the site and check your account directly.

Another E-bay Scam

Beware :

Recently I recieved a notice that my that my e-bay identity had been tampered with and that my account was no longer any good. ( for my own security) I was instructed to re-apply with new security and credit card numbers.

I erased the e-mail and proceeded to my e-bay acoount - no problems at all

There had been reports on the local news about these and someone posted one awhile back with a diifferent twist.
