Bf109-F-2 Help
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 4:32 AM
Hi, Big Smile [:D]

I've bought 2 Hasegawa kits at 1/48

One is Bf109-F-2 and the otherBF109E-1.

I oponed the box and my first look was to the canopy airframe of the F-2.

They are there, but when a pass trough it with my finger I dont "feel" it, as almost they waren't there.

For painting the canopies I use Bare Metal Foil, but for those how can I paint it????????

Waiting your post for help
Happy modeling

you can brush paint the frames freehand, get a liquid mask and paint it on the glass are or cut small thin pieces of tape and fill in between the frames. Just a couple of ideas.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

You might try this - get a piece of clear or white decal paper and shoot the final frame colors on it - take a pair of dividers and measure the width of the existing frame - transfer that measurement to the decal sheet and cut strips to fit on the canopy - I've used that method on 1/72 canopies. Good luck

For cockpit canopies i normally use tamiya masking tape the thin one and cut it to shape if you can see the framing then all you do is butt the tape up to the frame. the 109 f2/4 canopy has 6 panels on the mid canopy this will mean 4 pieces of tape per panel its time consuming but what part of modeling isnt ,for the curved section of canopy i use a special tape that is available here in oz from auto paint shops and is used for pin striping cars this tape goes around corners i have recently used it on my own 109 f4 from jg27 north africa on the canopy and the wing roots any areas on the canopy that couldnt be taped up were painted by brush.
