Ol` Walt dies

I remember someone on the TV saying that if he ran for President he would get all of the votes because as you said dirtball, "He was the most trusted man in America".

"And that's the way it is".

  Gary, I dont think you~ll get any argument about Murrow. He was defently one of the greatest of all time. But Walt, IMHO, was THE voice of my generation. I cryed with Walt when Kennedy was shot(dont see that happening much), Jumped for joy with the lunar landing.  Bobby Kennedy, Matin L.King, the list of unbeleavable news stories goes of.He handled all stories with honnesty and conviction. If he said it , it was truth! He was the "most trusted man in america" AND THATS THE WAY IT IS..........Harv

No one said Cronkite was the greatest. My comment was "A giant", not "THE" giant.
Morrow was indeed a Giant as well. And would NEVER get a job at a CNN, FOX News, or MSNBC.
Men of that mold sadly just do not fit in the "Infotaiment" world, and we are all cheated by that fact.

Don't forget Walt served in WWII as a correspondant. Crashed in a glider when covering Market Garden.
I remember Walter Concrite breaking in and sadly telling us we lost Grissom, White and Chaffee in the Apollo 1 Fire.

guess I have different feelings about him that you guys do. Edward R. Murrow was absolutly the finest newscaster this planet has ever seen period.

I can imagine Walt doing his own obit and ending it, as always "And that's the way it is".

Goodbye Walt, I learned about the world listening to your newscasts, watched Neil and Buzz land on the moon with you doing the storyline, and wish there were a lot more men like you in the world. RIP.

That is truly sad, I grew up with that guy giving us the news. He was the most trusted man in America.
