Blue Angel C-130 Fat Albert interior color scheme
Posted by Blackbelt2 on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 8:44 AM

Does anyone know of any websites or books that show the interior color scheme of the C-130 Blue Angel Fat Albert? I have purchased the C-130 Walk a Round and C-130 In Action books from Squadron but there are no pictures of the interior colors.I have seen some cockpit photos that show the upper walls white and the lower walls blue. The console and floor also appear to be blue. I do not know if the interior cargo area is all blue or two tone white and blue. Has anyone actually been inside Fat Albert? I am building a 1/72 scale C-130 as "Fat Albert" and I want to get the colors right.

Thanks 130fan! I appreciate any info that you can give me. I am such a stickler for detail and I try to make my model as close to the real thing as possible. That is why it takes me months to build a model. When i think i have the look that i want i come up with more details.

I can see no reason that Fat Albert's interior should be any different from any other stock C-130 out there as it is supposed to be able to be turned around to a fully conventional operational mode in short amount of time in times of emergency.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Which bureau number are you going to do?  I think I worked on a couple of them when they were in squadron service.  A couple of interior shots.

Thanks for the photos. It looks like the insulation is all white? The model I am making is the latest version 2008-2009 year. I saw some pictures of the cockpit and it looks like the interior is white with blue consoles and floor. It looks like the top half of the walls are white and the bottom half is blue? Would that match the outside color scheme? Also, i caught a glimpse of a video on U tube of people inside Fat Albert during a Jato take off and the troop seats appear to be blue. Your photo's show the standard "red" color. I am not sure how old your pictures are but the u-tube videos are from last years air shows.

The insulation is actually a pale green.  The pictures are from squadron service in 1968, VMGR 252.  I have a flight station picture from this same period, but if the colors you mention are how the Angels have it laid out, I doubt if it would be much help to you.

Blackbelt 2,

Had a look through my stuff, lots of external shots, but not much on interior shots. Sad [:(]

But, try this website, HerkyBirds.com. Smile [:)]

There's a fantastic gallery of photos of most Herk variants.Big Smile [:D]
