GAHHH!!Banged Head [banghead] Why didn't I think of that....I guess it's because I do not have any of those model types around the house....and wouldn't thing that the "Model Fairey" was genocidal......wow, there are so many to choose from......must think long and hard about that one.

Well I like the idea of the Death Star or a Klingon Bird of Prey, or any of the various other Star Wars vehicles - perhaps a Star Destroyer or an X-Wing - but I'd have to go with something real.

Put me down for a fully functional, airworthy 1/1 scale P-40B in Flying Tiger markings.

I would go for a large-scale flyable DeHavilland Mosquito, with gas engines, remote control, etc.

I did one of these on a simulator, and it is the beats them all!

Then I would conjour up my old buddy, the Model Fairy's arch-enemy, the Bad Model Warlock, and have the fairy come back and have her evil counterpart cast a spell, turning her into a toad or something, on her until she agreed I got all my stuff back.Big Smile [:D]

The incentive for the warlock to do this is to continue messing with my projects for the rest of my modelling life.Wink [;)]

Then we would trick the Witch into putting herself into a Mason Jar with  liquid sodium in it, that I would immediately seal, and throw it into the Mississippi River.Evil [}:)]

ThenI would go off and fly my perfect Mosquito to my heart's content, grinning and murmuring "Rotsa Ruck" Model Fairy.Laugh [(-D]

Okay....I agree with a lot here....but the Death Star....nice Thumbs Up [tup] ... but how about a different approach...Klingon Bird of Prey, ( I think that's the one from Star Trek IV), I'd be happy with 1/2 scale, but fully operational w/cloaking device, and follow her to her lair, recover stashes and put an end to her tyrannical reign!! Evil [}:)]. Or a 1:1 Combat Stealth UAV to accomplish the same mission.

If you want 1-1 scale and fully functional think BIG like the Death Star.

That will keep you busy a while and should be more than adequate to get the fairy where ever she may hide. Evil [}:)]

Oh and remember to cover the exhaust ports so she can't get in to the reactor.

If we're choosing 1/1, i want a P-47 to blow that fairy off the face of the planetBig Smile [:D]. One more model? Oh boy. Seeing that I haven't built that many compared to most, I think I 'd go with a 1/72 WWII aircraft carrier...that'd keep me busy for a whileBig Smile [:D]. Of course, this would include a full air wing and crew.. heehee.

hmm, only one model,,,,,,,hmmmm

okay, I guess I'd choose a 1/32 scale Kittyhawk with full air wing and deck section,,,working armament elevators and deck edge elevators,,,,etc

"just one model", the planes to a ship builder are just detail parts

almost gone

I'm assuming this is a scratchbuild project??  Somehow, I don't think "flawless" is synonymous with "airworthy".  Smile [:)]

Okay, if we can go to 1:1 scale, I want a P-51D—not plastic, metal. Airworthy. Fully armed—for the purpose that Jon mentions.

And Jon, you better make that a Griffon engined Spitfire, or I'll get to that fairy before you do! Laugh [(-D]

Ahhhh, you guys beat me to it!!!  51 for sure!

Normally I wouldn't touch a question like this with a twenty-foot wand, magical or otherwise, but since Gip Cool [8D] posted it, I will.

Assuming I can have any kit I want and can afford, and that I will scratchbuild any detail not included in the kit:

a 1/16th scale P-38…or maybe a P-51D…or a P-40E…umm…or an F-16…or an A-10…or an A-1H…or a P-47…uh…an F-86…an F4U…an F-89…an F-4????????????????????

After about a month of anxious dithering, I conjure a Level 10 Demon, and put a contract out on the model fairy…

Hey, if you can have a model fairy, I can have a hit demon! Laugh [(-D]

Seriously, I'd have to roll the dice between them, and I'd probably be happy with any of them. (You should see me trying to order at one of my favorite restaurants. I really do roll a die!)

I build solely for enjoyment of the build and the finished product. I think contests are, frankly, a bad idea—our society is overly competitive as it is. But if that's what lights your candle, then enjoy.

Of course, there's the real, secret motive that all of us share: Styrene, in kit form, is more addictive than any other known drug.…

So you can tell the model fairy that she can have my stash when she pries it from my cold, dead fingers. I'm armed, dangerous, and an experienced traveler on the astral planes. I wasn't looking for trouble. I am trouble. And now I'm looking for her! Buuuwahahahahahaha! Evil [}:)]

Silly enough?Laugh [(-D]

I'm not sure what I'd build, but I'd make sure it had A LOT of pieces...Cool [8D]

Otherwise it becomes more of a "slave labor" project then an enjoyable hobby.

That's one--and only one--model for the rest of your life.  One. single. solitary. uno. model...

I agree completely with the primary purpose being self-satisfaction.  If it's not, then does it actually cease being a hobby?

You're sitting at your work bench and the model fairy appears, waves her magic wand, and POOF!--Everything disappears: your entire kit stash, photoetch and resin goodies, aftermaket decals, your spares box, the half-finished kits on your workbench, and even all the kits you've previously built and displayed have been vaporized. Sad [:(]

The fairy then tells you that for the remainder of your natural life you are allowed to build only ONE model.  Shock [:O]  But because the fairy feels generous, the end result will be flawless. Cool [8D] Of course, due to the current economy, the fairy has lost all her savings and fired her staff; so money-wise, you're on your own. Evil [}:)]

So here are the questions.  A) Which model do you choose to build? B)What is your motivation for building, seeing the end result will be flawless?  (For example, do you still build solely for enjoyment/relaxation? Do you build to finally have a chance to take 1st place at that big contest? Do you finally build for some client who has bottomless pockets, or are there other incentives?)
