Mega Hobby, anybody else deal with them???
Posted by jrherald420 on Monday, August 10, 2009 7:54 PM

Ive had the worst time with them. I ordered 3 things, a carbon fiber decal sheet, seat belt material and photoetched seat belt hardware over 3 weeks ago. I called them 10 days after i ordered because i hadnt received my items and was told they were out of the seatbelt hardware and were waiting to ship because of that. I thought they should atleast sent me an email letting me know what the hold up was on my 3 day shipping.

So i call today since they said the hardware would ship a week ago only to be told it would be 2-3 more weeks before they get any more in. I asked the guy if i was going to get any email letting me know about the delay and his responce was "you'll get an email when we ship it, were shipping it to you for free, what more do you want?" Needless to say i informed him that i will never order from his company again and he laughed at me and hung up.  What a prick.  Just wanted to know if anybody else had a problem with them??/

I've never dealt with them, or heard of them for that matter. But I did do a quick search for complaints about them and didn't find that much. It sounds like their problem might be that they offer too much and don't have the staff to handle it. I hope you do get your purchases soon though. It's aggravating not having any control over the situation and never knowing the real truth.

i guess its a good thing that the seatbelt hardware was only like 6.00, but it still sucks.

Sorry you've had trouble.

About a year ago I was trying to buy a limited run kit.

Megahobby's site listed the kit in stock. I ordered it and several days later I received an e-mail saying they could no longer get the kit.

I found the kit and bought it from another site. The day before the package arrived from my second order, the kit arrived from Megahobby with a note inside saying they'd located one and shipped it and were sorry for the inconvenience.

I figured that service deserved a few repeat orders. I use them when my LHS doesn't have something. I've never had a problem.

g'day. i've been a customer of megahobby many times, and whenever i've ordered something, its always arrived. but their shipping cost to canada is outrageous, as well as some of their prices. i've found a mosquito engine kit by aires on megahobby for about $90. thats alot of money for a kit upgrade. but i found the exact same set on squadron.com for 30 bucks! in the past, my purchase cost has been less than the shipping! usually about 28 dollars to canada, when i purchased a mustang resin wheel well, which was 14 dollars or sumthin. i fired them a terse email and stated the fact that i will no longer bring them my business, to which they replied inquiring where i was from, then sent me the part with free shipping. so i guess that wasn't bad, but their items are damn expensive, and their shipping to canada, is horrendous. i stick to ebay now.

They are one of my 4 regular suppliers (Tower, Model Round up, Sprue Brothers & Megahobby) so I've bought from them several times over the past 2 or 3 years. Not the fastest (2-3 weeks on average) but their prices and selection are pretty good and I've never had any trouble like you describe with their service. I've never bought aftermarket stuff from them though just kits & supplies.
