Well S.T.V. you should have required the customer to "pick-up"...making it his problem. tha is my preference. As a matter of fact I was just asking Robin Buckland , a writer for Military Modeller, and moderator of the website a similar question, because I really want to go to Euromilitaire, quite likely the finest model event in the world, coming up soon.but... Robin, I so want to be there, but alas, my friend, A Euro-trip is not in the budget. Now, certainly the wife & I deserve it, but it may be a few more years. If I did, is there any way on earth to get my diorama across the pond & to the show? Hold it on my lap the whole planeride? Send it over on a cloud? Also- I've wondered about the safety of one's model once there-in such a big event-is that what you mean by "those who are coming to the show can (look out for them)"....? Just a few questions from a Southern Californian modeler who really wants to be there.......................All the best with it !.........Indy | | Send to friend Quote | Robin Buckland | 17/08/2009 08:38:27 | Moderator 1103 forum posts 2796 photos 270 articles | Hi Indy, How modellers transport them I can't say. Some will carry them, others ship them. I have seen some very elaborate packing cases to hold them securely and safely over the years. Once at the show they are safe in the competition rooms, with stewards keeping an eye on things throughout. I can't recall any major issues over the years though I am sure nothing is ever perfect. Having been every year, we see entries from all over the world at the show. One day I'm sure you'll make it over. Rather like me, I've never been to the US but hope to one day, as lots of places I'd like to see (APG, Davis-Monthan, Smithsonian, Intrepid etc etc...) Regards Robin |
Well, that's all I got--I wish there was more. I would NEVER send a model UPS. They train those guys not to throw, drop or bounce the parcels, but they aren't givin the time to do the job otherwise. How far a drive is it to the customer? Can we see some pictures of the thing? Indy
