online site that sells Tamiya Acrylics for cheap?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 21, 2003 9:00 PM
I hope this is in the right forum. Anyway, my hobby store sells Tamiya Acrylics (the mini bottles) for $2.00, and Model Masters Acryl paints for $2.58. I have seen Great Model's prices, but I would like to know if anyone sells them for a cheaper price.

Don't forget to add shipping to those internet orders. You'll have to order quite a few bottles to come out on that one.

Actually I did the same thing.....

Ehobbies found here: http://www.ehobbies.com/
has Tamiya Acrylic Paints for roughly $1.90/ea......
HOWEVER Shipping even using the slowest/least expensive method was downright scary!

So I ordered them from Steve's ScaleHobby....which can be found here:http://www.scalehobby.com/
Steves price is roughly $2.34/each....Expensive you bet! But he has free shipping on his finishing supplies and the Tamiya paints qualify! The price per bottle was more but by the time you figured in shipping that Ehobbies charged ScaleHobby was actually cheaper by quite a bit(I ordered 32 Tamiya paints all shipped but 1 that was backordered) Steve is also very quick to respond to questions/concerns.....
Plus he takes PayPalApprove [^]
Good Luck and I hope this helps

I'm paying like 3.48 euros, that's like almost if not 5.00 dollars, I might have to start ordering vast amounts online and making one big buy for a month or two?

Mark, Just be sure to look over your cart carefully some were $1.90 and others were $1.79 a few I think I saw one cant remember the color though was $1.49, and check the shipping, might be worth it for a few bottles but they just frightened me away with thier shipping prices......of course I was buying 32 bottles of paint though

If you saved 10 cents per bottle online and shipping per order were $7.00 then you would have to order more than 70 bottles to save money. If you saved 20 cents per bottle, you'd have to buy more than 35 bottles to save money. Just think it out first.

What about tax? You don't have to pay tax if the store is out of state in the US so that usually makes up for the shipping. Therefore, if the price is less than your hobby store then it should be a good deal. And of course, the more you buy, the bigger the benefit. One bottle wouldn't help ya.

Well Ehobbies shipping, whether a mistake or not qouted me USPS Ground 7-10 days(Thier cheapest method) for the 32 bottle order was almost $35 I think some one started hitting the Egg Nog a lil early this year....

Checked on something else from them....again the slowest cheapest method....a 1/72 P51 III was going to cost $10 shipping from them......only cost me $4.75 to send one out to someone in Nebraska and that was using Priority USPS.....So they definitely have some high shipping prices......

Thats how they can sell everything dirt cheap. They make up the lose by having high shipping and handling.

Seeing how I can get at the LHS shop for $1.90 , i think I'll continue to support them.
