US-based Custom Brass Etching that's affordable?

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could go to get custom brass etching done. I want to make sheets similar to what Forgeworld puts out...

... for addition to my 28mm wargaming models, but I'm looking to get custom iconography on them and maybe flame motifs.

Is anyone familiar with such a service? I've been looking, but the ones I've found are located principally in Europe, which is a bit far. I've also contacted a couple US-based services, but I've found that the majority of them require bulk purchase orders in excess of $500 or so before they're willing to do any etching work, which is way more than I'm willing to spend on such an endeavor. Is there any company that provides this service on a smaller scale, or do I have to start looking into learning how to etch for myself?

You might check over at the Starship Modeler forum. Seems that I remember a similar request there. Micro Mark sells a table top photo-etching kit that has everything to do it yourself.
