Suggest a good model store with online shopping
Posted by Arespontus on Friday, December 18, 2009 9:23 PM

Hello

Could someone suggest a good model store that has a good online shopping site that is located in the United states or Canada.

It is inconvenient to travel to the closest store which is about 45 minutes away and would like to order over the web.

Thankyou

Scott

I found this store that's located in San Antonio and gave it a try. It's called Hill Country Hobby.

I can't say it the largest selection on the Internet but they do carry a huge range of products and the prices are very, very acceptable, with special sales going on all the time.

What made it stand out for me was the absolutely incredible customer service that Jim the owner offers. Very nice guy that honestly bends over backwards to help his customers out. 100% personalized service. I'll be placing my next order in January. I much prefer to deal with someone like Jim instead of one of the giant dealers on the Web.

LHS=Local Hobby Shop

For every new hobby shop that open, two close their doors. Having a LHS is a blessing, especially if it is a good one. I have a fair one locally, I have to drive 90 minutes to get to a really good one that meets my product requirements.

Sprue Brothers gets 99.9% of all of my online hobby retail business.

 My LHS closed several years ago and I still miss them very much. Not only was it a place to pick up supplies and kits, but also good advice.

Also check out Roll Models. Slow delivery, but only once have they not been able to send me what I ordered. Great Models has been a mixed bag, though they always made things right in the end, and seem to have improved lately.

Loony Hobbiest Syndrome.

  Yep, I believe I have aquired that.

 Sprue Brothers is my choice for dependable fast service. Internet Hobbies is also a good reliable source.
