Hill Country Hobby - anyone ever hear of or use them?
Posted by Gigatron on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 7:51 PM

Hey gang,

I was looking for a bottle of 400ml Mr. Color Thinner and came across this company (Hillcountryhobby.com) that had it in stock and at a good price.  So I ordered 2 bottles from them and I never recieved a confirmation email.  Now granted, I used a credit card, so I am protected should things go south, but I was wondering if anyone had used them before and what their experience was.

Thanks,

Fred

As per the norm, not 10 minutes after I posted this, did I receive the confirmation notice.  Not only that, but they say the package is ready to roll and will be shipped out tomorrow Cool

So, they seem like good folk.  Actually got a personally composed confirmation letter, instead of the standard form letter.

Hopefully, I'll have yet another resource to add to the list of vendors that I like to deal with.

Great people over at Hill Country Hobby.

Excellent customer service. I 'm located in Mexico and order from the website. Jim is always more than willing to help and there is always a worthwhile sale going on with something or another. Another very cool thing is that his service is personal and he's always willing to listen to customer suggestions. After having purchased from Hill Country, I don't do much shopping anywhere else.

Consider me a very satisfied Hill Country customer.

Fred,

I'm glad you mentioned that you never received a confirmation email from Hill Country Hobby. I just came across your note here and have now addressed the issue with our website. I try to send out personal notes if time permits too, but you should have received an auto-confirmation upon completing your order with our site. Thanks for your patience with this.

Best Regards,

PS. I'm going to try using the thinner as you suggested- as paint remover.

Hi Jim,

Good to see you're here - I always like when vendors are active participants in their respective hobbies.  Consider me a very happy customer - and I look forward to doing repeat business, when the need arises.

Let us know how you like Mr. Color Thinner as an industrial paint remover.  I'm not sure how I ever cleaned up without it, before, LOL.

Heh...  I was going to tell you that if you ran into problems, I would be happy to drop by their shop since they are here in San Antonio.  Glad to hear you are doing ok with them.

Dogwatch,

Next time you stop by, let me know it's you. It's tough to match screen names to faces!

Hi Jim!

Thanks for the great hobby shop experience today.  I didnt get a chance to tell you but I love the fact that your store is models and not RC, fantasy, comic books etc. etc.  Im really glad to see we have a quality hobby shop in town now.  I live in Converse and will gladly make the pilgrimage to your location.  Selection and service were top notch!  Good luck at the show and Ill see you in February at the show in Live Oak.
