What to build next?

OK guys I started on the Academy 1/48 SU-27 Flanker C yesterday and am wondering about paint, decals, the usual things we think about ahead of time.

How are the decals in the kit? I was thinking of just going with an OOB build with the kit decals and colors shown in the instructions as I don't think it's worth buying aftermarket decals.

I have the same problem all of the time. My stash isn't that big but there are always at least 4 or 5 or a dozen kits that I want to tackle next. And then I go ahead and buy another one and that one always goes to the top of the list. And as soon as I start one, I'll start wishing I had started another. It drives me nuts!

In your case Mike, I think I'd go with the A-10. Ain't nothing prettier than a Warthog.

As a bit of inspiration on the SU-27, have a look at Harald Huf's site (if you havn't already) & his mega scale, hand made, marvelous SU-27.

If anything it should make you realise that in the big picture, you dont really have a storage problem for the completed item.

If I was you I would build either the F-18 or the P-51. But its just my opinion.

This is what Wayne over at the ARC forum told me last night and I was laughing when I read it.

I would have to do my M&M Gladiator deal with them picks.

You designate an M&M Gladiator to represent each subject.
You have death matches. Two M&M Gladiators per time. You put one in each hand, Held between, thumb and index finger. One who's shell cracks first gets thrown into the pit of the Tummy monster. Other gets to go another round.

Gladiator who is left standing Wins for the Subject they represent. Subjects are fighting for their spot on the work bench

Thanks guys. Fred, I used to have an order as well but my mind changes on what looks good to build at the time. (A.D.D. I think lol). Carlos, I wanted to complete the P-38J I started a long time ago for a group build but it is going to be Richard Bong's plane and I am not sure if I am in the mood to try and get the finish flawless for the Alclad II that I have never used. I guess I am in a building mode but not a building mode that requires a lot of extra work. 

I think I am going to try my hand at the SU-27 Flanker as I have never built a Russian aircraft.

I wished it was a little smaller though as it is too big to fit in the display case I put my completed builds in.

The 1/48 Revell F-15E I have in the case is the maximum sized aircraft that will fit in there so the Flanker will have to sit on top of something else in the house.

My stash is now at the largest it's ever been - 5 kits, 3 AAVs and 2 birds.  I just stack them in the closet in the order I wanted to build them.  Now I just reach in and take one.  No second guessing, no hemming and hawing.

With a stash of your size, you should do the same thing.  It'll be confusing at first (as you've already encountered), but life becomes much easier down the road.

I suppose it depends on if youre in teh mood for a kit that builds easily or up for more of a challenge. All these GBs that seem so tempting do a LOT of my decision making about my stash... and IPMS  and AMPS meeting themes...

Easy, the Flanker or at a push the A-10.

My "stash" is really only ever my next kit - I would find it to hard / confusing if it were any other way!
