I would bet there are a great many of us who have wounded ourselves with those Xacto knifes. My worst came from other tools of our trade: mine being toothpicks and sewing needles. Each have found their way off my workstation and into the carpet, and seemed to stand up at just the wrong moment. The toothpick was very difficult to remove and the needle penetrated very deep! Both left me with a limp that persisted for days! I probably was lucky I didn't get some sort of infection...

i didn't take any pictures of it, i do have a nasty one of my left middle finger that i smashed in the door last spring... coincidentally, i cannot feel in the tip of that finger, but it still moves. it sorta got flattened out, and doesn't fit properly in my nose anymore...
I did the same thing last summer to the index finger on my right hand. I cut the nerve and what muscle there is. I am still doing therapy to regain full use and feeling in my finger tip. The doctor, a long time friend, couldn't resist kidding me. He is the same doctor who operated on my left hand eight times after I lost two finger tips and badly ripped up a third one. He removed the knuckle on that finger so it bends permanently.
Last time I actually cut myself was about 5 years ago. Immediatly pinched it and dipped my finger in a little puddle of CA. No problem, felt fine! About 45 minutes later, I got up to get something to drink, woke up on the floor with my dog whining and licking my face. Don't know what it is that makes me pass out, got no problems with blood and guts, but for some reason, if I cut a finger(and it's only if it's a finger tip), I'm out!!!!
I was cutting a part of the parts tree and the blade cut my thumb. It didn't feel very good either.

OK, probably wouldn't vomit, but I'd have passed out for sure.....happens every time!!!(only with cut fingers....wierd!!!)
I poked my index finger, with of all things, a sprue cutter about a month ago. I didn't know that thing could go in that deep! Ouch. It's all a memory now. Rick.

not bad, i knew the angle of attack of the x-acto was dangerous, however, i'd gone ahead with compromising angles before, no problems. i didn't expect the glued surfaces i was forcing apart would separate so quickly! just a nick, but it was a fresh blade, and found its mark near the nail/cuticle of my left index finger, of course on the small ridge of skin where the nail rounds out. got the bleeding stopped and it's air drying nicely now, but ended my evening of modeling before it started... it's been a long time since i got myself this good. cheers for blade safety kids! :)
