Actually, turns out I can make it, as long as my dad doesn't get lost on the ride.

Not sure what the differentiation is for street legal. Maybe post the question in the auto forum and someone that competes may be able to give you the straight poop.

I'm psyched, I'll be there, too.  I'll find out tonight if anyone else from our club (DVSM) is going, though I expect a bunch of us will be.

$10 and the first 8 models free is very good!   I entered a model in the Region II show in October (Jerseycon, I think that was), and it was something like $30 or $35 to register, though that's for non-IPMS members.  I think members had to pony up $20 or $25.

I wonder if that guy who scratch-builds 1/6 armor will show anything.  I'll have to have a look over in the Armor forum and see.

It will be a busy Saturday-up at 6, throw a load of laundry in,  get over to Egypt Star Bakery by 7 and get the Paska bread for Easter, back home to hang out the wash, then hop on 78 and head to Jersey!  Enjoy the 'Con, pick up kits and decals, then home, take the wash down, then hit the road for a 20 mile ride in on the bike, then bake ricotta pies for Easter.

Busy day, busy day...

We're planning on being there around 10:30. It's a 3 hour ride from my house and 2-1/2 from where we are meeting up. Hope we don't hit too much traffic on the way. See you there. We'll have FSM badges that Watchmann made up for us to be easy to spot.

I'm pretty sure I'll be there.   Think we'll be able to do the picture of everyone this year like we had planned last year?  What do you guys think?

Not to sure..... (I would consider that street legal) maybe Wing_nut can clarify this I'm a member but this is my first Mosquitocon as one. Anyways I like junkers and would wanna see it anyways. Can't see why it wouldn't be in that class it ain't a race car.

I have a question perhaps some one can answer. If I was to bring a model it would be an automobile but I need some clarification as to the category. What exactly does the term 'street legal' refer to? I had brought a rather decrepit looking Firebird to an IPMS regional show here in Jersey but I afraid it may not have been considered because it wasn't 'street legal' (I guess having a smashed back windshield would qualify it as such). But my interpretation of street legal was that it simply wasn't a competitive race or drag car or similar, not that it had some rust and damage. Can some one clarify? Because if my car won't fit into a category, I won't bother paying to show it again.

I would fill it out ahead of time, saves you some checkin time. You bring it with you, the check in guy will make sure everything is in the right category. You then place the models on the table with your form underneath of next to your model. The bottom with your name is folded so judges don't see your name. People usually put their containers underneath the table near their models so they can store them afterwards. Judging is around 4-ish and they jump around the categories so that more 'popular' categories are mixed in with the less so ones.

Don't know if these are the official club guidelines, but that's what I've observed in the last few years since I've been going.

Go to www.njipms.org

On left side of page go to MosquitoCon

On that page go to Model Registration form.

I guess you take them with you. It doesn't say either way.

It's $10 to get in and the first 8 models are free.  After that, it's .50 each model.

I'm going to check on the forms now. Will let you know.

So just to clarify.

10$ registration fee plus entry fee to get in and get models in the competition?

do I have to fill out any forms before hand or just do them at the door?

Really, its only 10$?!  I could have sworn it was more like 30.  Thats great!  I wish I had more time, I have a few kits it would only take me a few moments to clean up...

Hey Smeagol... haven't seen you lately.  i guess our paths just haven't crossed.  The registration price of $10 include the 1st 8 models then they are .50 each after that.

Looking forward to seeing all you guys there.

Iv been to 2 ipms so far in my life, and the scifi section has been lacking, severely so I am going to buff it up with as many of my kits as possible, not all of them would even be close enough to good enough to win, but im gona bringem all anyway as long as the fee for entering the competition allows for as many kits as you want.  does it?

I actually entered it about 3 years back - didn't win anything though. Contests are tough at Mosquitocon, quite a few very talented modelerers there - espeically in 1/48th scale.  Maybe I should enter it in the 'modification or scratch bilt'' section I'll have more of a chance. ;)

Yes, that was my cutaway. Thanks for noticing and your kind words.

Am I missing something here? That Zero is contest quality for sure! Hell it made the cover of FSM... At least enter it for kicks and giggles, if you don't play you can't winToast

Wow, is it that time already?  Unfortunately, none of my builds this year is really contest quality. But that wont stop me from bringing some cash to stock up on my stash!

This is a great show, I encourage anyone who has a chance to stop by. Marc & the other guys in the club really does a good job - if I only lived closer I'll join the club too.

Waikong, was that your cut-away Zero in the Jan 2010 FSM ? That was a pretty good article, and impressive build.
