Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has shopped or purchased goods from etamiya.com, its based in Hong Kong.

I need polishing compound, sand papers, extra fine cement and X-20 thinners. A lot of the usual web sites in the uk are sold out of these products.

Any feedback would be much appreciated

thanks

Darren

I haven't bought from e-Tamiya so I can't comment on them, but as far as sandpaper and polishing compounds go, check out your local auto parts store. Wet and dry papers will be a fraction of the cost of the Tamiya branded stuff, as will rubbing/polishing compounds. A tub of car polish will more than likely last you a lifetime of modelling.

Look also at the metal polishes sold used to polish metal pots and pans, silver or even brass fixtures. Toothpastes with tartar control also have a bit more grit than normal pastes, they too can be used to polish plastic.

Sandpaper, you can source a large sheet for a fraction of the price from a local hardware/home improvement store. Just look for those with Wet or Dry Use printed on the back. You should be able to get grits up to 2000 without a problem. Also as suggested check the suppliers that cater to the auto repair shops.

Support your local economy when and where you can, it means jobs for your neighbors.

McGuires Scratch X is a nice plastic polish too, you can find it at most auto parts stores near the car wax.
