27 Days to Valleycon

Wings & Wheels Modelers/IPMS announce our Valleycon 20 at the Knights of Columbus, 460 Granby Road in Chicopee MA on Sunday 28 March 2010. This is our 20^th anniversary and we have several special features to celebrate this. The first 20 people entering models in competition will be given a free limited edition 20^th Anniversary T-shirt. Additional shirts will also be available for purchase at the club table. As part of the celebration, we are featuring four very special awards, one each for the best Ford Mustang, the best P-51 Mustang, the best Sherman tank and the best Vietnam era US military figure. Any variant and any scale model meeting this description will be eligible for these one time trophies.

As we have done in the past few years, Junior categories and figures, military vehicle, collections, scratchbuilt/major conversions, dioramas and vignettes will be judged on an open basis with models being judged on their own merit of workmanship and modeling skill, not against other exhibits in the class. The rest of the entries, automotive, maritime, aviation and science fiction subjects will be judged using the standard first, second and third place system. We feature at least 14 special awards sponsored by club members and a beautiful Best of Show award for the model judged to be the best example of a modeler's skill on display at the event.

We have a huge vendor room with over 50 spaces filled with dealers offering new and vintage kits and hobby related merchandise. As always, we will have door prizes and a raffle. Food is available on site.

General admission remains a very economical $2.00 per model entered in the contest with the first three entries being free from anyone under 16 when accompanied by an adult. Spectators are always welcome at a modest fee of $2.00 per adult. There is ample free parking.
