The Revell Spitfire builds into a nice kit-a lot of room for detail work if desired-looks great without.

As far as war movies, try "Saints and Soldiers"...one of my favorites.  Battle of the Bulge time frame.

Good luck with the elbow.  As for movies, The Beast - a great film about  a Russian tank trapped in a valley in Afghanistan, very intense (Das Boot in a tank).  King Rat - film about a WW2 Japanese POW.  Think Great Escape with all the ugly bits left in.  Blue Max - WW1 flying and drama, nothing great but certainly worth a look.   Angles One Five - RAF pilots and war, very good.  In Which We Serve, another great British war movie.  There are lots more and I am sure you will great suggestions, your problem will be trying to decide which to watch.

"Cross of Iron" (Very gritty, Infantry combat from German POV on the Eastern Front) -Lee Marvin, Maximilian Schell, David Warner, James Mason.  Sam Peckinpah really captured the look and feel of the Eastern Front, if not the smell...

I 2nd, "The Beast"... Best "Tank Movie" ever made, IMHO..

"Flight of the Intruder": Outstanding roller-coaster ride about an A-6 pilot during Vietnam who loses his B/N on an attack against a "suspected truck park" and gets pizzed-off about target selection being done from Washington and guys getting killed whille bombing trees, takes matters into his own hands...  Movie wasn't as good as the book, but it's still a good one.. Don't look for historical accuracy and just watchi it.. Danny Glover's "CAG" character is priceless... "If I find out the Phantom is someone from THIS squadron.... He's going Keel-hauled... And that is SERIOUS on an aircraft carrier!"

Add "BAT 21" to the list-great movie.

Wow i love Battle of Britian. What about Patton, or Thin Red Line. Good movies.

if you have netflix and can watch them instantly on your pc or whatever, and you like foreign films, check out mongol and mi mejor enimigo.  mongol is well done, and me mejor enimigo is about a group of chilean soldiers holding an imaginary line in patagona during their tiff with argentina.  not a lot of action, but i thought it was an excellent movie.

not wwII movies, but sometimes that rut gets well worn...

wwII sorta off the beaten path... there is one called the fallen, pretty good imo, about italian and german troops trying to hold off the allied advance, and one that i enjoyed a lot.  i'll also plug miracle at santa anna.  don't know how historically accurate the movie is, but i've always enjoyed spike lee's movies.

all that i mentioned can be viewed instantly on netflix.

Anyone mention "A bridge too Far"?

Can't go wrong with Kelly's Heroes and Doctor Strangelove for some good laughs.

Two not on here yet- Farewell to The King, and The Wind and The Lion.

What about some recent movies like "Platoon", "Full Metal Jacket" or "Saving Private Ryan"?

A classic I like is "Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewart, even though it's kind of a two hour long promotion for the US Air Force. Lots of time spent in B-36's and B-47's.
