washing raised panel lines

Hello, I am just returning to model building after 10 or so years and have been in awe at some of the finishes that are created by some very talented model builders. I have several aircraft kits that I am starting to build and they have the raised panel lines. My question is what would be the easiest way to wash this type of panel line. I understand the procedure for the newer kits with recessed lines and will purchase those in the future as soon as I finish the ones I have now. Can anyone help?

Personally, I wouldn't apply a wash to raised lines... Mine get post-shaded with pastels.. About 80% of my builds are Monogram/Revell with raised lines, and the plus-side of pastels is if you don't like the effect, you can wipe most of it off and try again..

Cajunmodeller  I have used a pencil to highlight the lines for a stark effect, you can also use artist pastel chalk in color you want. Just scrape off chalk in powder and use a stiff brush to dry brush on. You can also mask at the line one panel at a time and use darker paint. use more darker aft of the line and lighten base color and spray in middle of panel to weather, I would practice the latter proceedure on a model from the scrap bin untill you like the effect. hope that helps.

I build lots of kits with raised panel lines, specifically old monogram and revell aircraft. Lots of of builders take the time to rescribe them, and I have too on occasion, but usually not. I think that simply going over them with a 4H or 6H pencil is convincing. Use Dymo tape, or the straightedge of your choice.
