A warm fuzzy for Squadron
Posted by mfsob on Saturday, May 15, 2010 12:30 PM

Say what you want about Squadron - some love 'em, some don't - but I scored four of their excellent In Action and Walk Around books, including three that were marked down to $2 each, and had them with three days. Packed in a padded envelope and with cardboard top and bottom so the books didn't get mangled by the lovely but uncaring shippers and arrived pristine. Add to that a very pleasant ordering experience with a person who not only knew their stuff and was efficient, but was proficient in my native language and not 10,000 miles away. Kudos.

P.S. - I did not want to start another Squadron thread, but gave up trying to find an existing one with our "new and improved" forum features. I have better things to do with my time than futz around with 10,279 search results, like, well, read!

I took advantage of that same sale and got a bunch of decal sets for a B-29 and P-47s that I plan to build, $2 each.  And they came quickly, packaged exactly as you described.

Ditto here.  I posted a similar message to a thread that Manstein's Revenge had started a few weeks ago.  The lady that helped me was possibly the nicest customer service worker I had ever talked to. I had placed my order before the sale actually started, so she looked up each item and confirmed the sale price.  Package was like you said impervious to the dangers of shipping.  Top notch service.  Rick.

Squadron is fantastic.  They only messed up one order and that was because they mis-typed my credit card info from my order to the bank to get the funds so the order wasn't filled.  I called a few days later because my bank account wasn't charged.  They advised of the above problem and corrected it.  I had my order the next day.  Considering one of the items I place in that order was a Revell 1/48 B-29 and they overnighted it from Texas to NY that is very impressive.

Every order is packed as though it is going to be delivered on horseback.  Never a dent in a box or a page creased on a book.  What's not to love about Squadron.

MFSOB, thanks for letting us know about this.  Went there right away and got me 5 Walk Around books and In Actionfor $1-3 each.  What a great DEAL!

Earlier this month, I ordered this $60 kit from Gundam Store and More on a Tuesday, standard shipping was about $7  from Michigan to Massachusetts. The box was at least 15 X 12 X 5 inches and weighed about 4 pounds...this is a big kit! The box arrived on Friday the same week.

In February, I ordered a $20 54mm mounted plastic Historex figure from Squadron (weight with box maybe 8 ounces and about the size of two regular paperback books) with $5 shipping. It took over 3 WEEKS to get from Texas to Massachusetts. Of course, I could have doubled my shipping costs and gotten it sooner!

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Wow, sorry to hear that, I've never had any big problems with Squadron.

Last summer they left out a set of decals I'd ordered. One email and they sent them in a separate order and paid for S&H. I can't complain.

I have found that they have been beating my other major supplier, Great Models, in delivery time by a few days lately.  I mentioned it to GM today.  I ordered from both today---I'll see who wins this round.

When ordering from Squadron you have a choice  on shipping. 1) you can pay for cheap shipping and it will take much longer to get to you or 2) you you can pay for a faster turn around. The choice is yours. They are trying to offer as many option to the modeler as posible because eveyone is different.

When finding these deals from Squadron do you click the Savings icon or do you search through their regular section?
