Glad I could help. Let me know what you come up with, as an engineering student this sort of stuff really interests me!

RaadMax, thanks for the reply. That's a great idea I hadn't even thought of. Yes, some will be load-bearing. Cool, thanks!

Are these scratchbuilt parts going to be load-bearing? If not, I'd think epoxy would work just fine. If they are load-bearing, like in an R/C plane structure, you might have to go with a joint that is more substantial, perhaps with some mechanical attachment.

Carbon Fiber help
Posted by ski4jeepin on Sunday, May 30, 2010 1:51 PM

I need some help working with carbon fiber. I have a scratchbuild project planned using CF sticks and rods I found at the LHS. The questions...Is epoxy the best adhesive for the joints and does the entire project need to be coated in a resin, like fiberglass resin?

I asked this question over in the Scratchbuilding forum, but didn't get much help (no offense AussieMuscle!). I thought maybe posting over here might find someone who doesn't lurk the Scratchbuilding forum. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
