Hi, John, I just posted a response over at your other thread with some info to explain why there's no internal detail for Monogram's B-17 kit.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

As Sfire suggests- the B-17 group build look into it......there is a  resin bbay kit ,tough to find ,after seeing it on line I opted to build my own bbay detail. There is a lot of very small parts to fab and detail out. I intend to use the eduard bbay doors and scratchbuilt the rack and other details.Compared to the rest of the plane ths bbay is very much less work. I am into the visible 1/48 B-17 here are a few pix. The bbay in these Monogram kits is ok but wont stand up to comparison with p/e and resin sets, therefore the kit bb assy must be scratched or heavily modified.

Scratch built bbay racks as the kit ones are too  tall...

Thank you ,Krow113

There is a group build going now called '1/48 scale B-17 all invited to join' I snooped the pages and one chap had purchased AM (after market) resin bomb bay details for his kit. Far as open bomb doors I believe most kits give you the choice of open or closed. If not a little cutting and you can make the doors open yourself. It sounds like you plan on modeling the aircraft in flight, you could do the same with a 1/72 scale kit as well.
