my new work area
Posted by DURR on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 2:30 PM

up to 3 months ago my area was a tray table in the living room   needless to say not much modeling was happening    i now have a 9x12 room   and lots of modeling is going on

i have only bought 10 models in the last 2 yrs

my stash has about 1500  i have finished 30 or so in the last yrs          so........ i may now be able to get the stash cut in half  in 2-3 yrs as long as my eyes and body hold up  or as long as i don't croak b-4 that

Nice congrats on the new work table. You do realise that by telling us your model output has increased were all going to expect the level of WIP stuff from you to increase aswell right?

I took over my son's room now that he's in college and doesn't visit much anymore. His mom and I divorced some 16 years ago anyway. I'm presently converting it nto my dream-cave. A work in-progress. It feels so much better building in a room with some space. I don't get claustrophobic anymore. I used to model in my walk-in closet. thank goodness it had a window.

Tigerman, you could have closed off that closet window and replaced it with a periscope, used a really loudly vibrating airbrush compressor and sat on an uncomfortable chair and I bet you would have felt like you were riding in a tank! Ick! Really give you a visceral connection to the work you were building!

Yep, full-sized hobby-dedicated man cave is the way to go...glad to hear you turned your son's infrequent visits into something positive.

Thanks George. I laughed at your tank comparison, but yeah, with my old noisy compressor, it was very noisy in that room. I purchased a new one that just hums very quietly. I recently organized my paints and spare parts, so progress is being made. Just got to get a few more builds done by the end of the year and I'll be quite happy.

Having a modeling room is great. I guess some of you envy those of us who have a dedicated hobby room but HEY I envy your talent  Wink
