My Atomic going out of business???
Posted by iraqiwildman on Monday, July 19, 2010 9:53 AM

I noticed My Atomic must being going out of business. I ordered a Tamiya Stalin JS-2 off their clearence for $28.99 and some putty, but I only got their putty delivered after 2 weeks.

They took their facebook site down after many negative post the last 2 weeks and they will not answer the phone or reply to emails.

Anyone else having problems with them or heard any news?

Crap!  I hope not!  I liked them!

I bought some stuff off them through eBay and was getting ready to order some stuff off their website.  Guess I'll hold off on that idea now.

Thanks for the SitRep!!

According to the company/s president; they are not going out of business. the problem is cash flow.

Paypal is withholding  hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments to my atomic. It has developed

into a legal battle.

I am still waiting on a Tamiya JS-2 they had on clearance for $29. They shipped the Squadron Putty I ordered, but no kit. And of course they will not answer any communication. They spent $4.50 to ship me a $1.99 tube of putty. Kind of dumb. Looks like I will have to dispute the credit card charge.

Did you ever get your order? If not, don't let the 30 days grace period on your CC fade away. Lucky for me I was able to get my $$ thanks to my bank. They are going OOB. That cash flow thing is nothing but a lame excuse from them in order to get more orders and your CC info. Why those who paid using regular Credit Cards (like me) have to be penalized for those who have paid via Paypal? They were good while they lasted but stay away from them.

Dang it!  I hate to hear that!

I've purchased a few kits from them in the past and always got good service from them.

Who? Never head of them...

My experience with them was VERY good, and many people felt the same way. For some reason they were not widely known in the model building community. Everything over $25 shipped for free within the states and they had very competitive prices. Got my Tamiya F-16 CJ and F15 E 1/32 from them and saved little over $100 compared with other e-tailers. It was very tempting to go over the $25 mark while ordering if your stuff shipped for free Wink

AFAIK, they were on-line for 6+ years. I'm very sorry to see them go. Many RC enthusiasts are not really happy with them either.

No - I don't know where you got that information from, but there's been no local press release, or email notices concerning this publicly. I heard it from employess what's going down. From what I know about them (since they're headquarters are in my town) is that the owner died, and the comapny's now bankrupt from lack of business/customer traffic.  Paypal wouldn't withhold money unless they had a lot of people complaining (which they don't!) You can even look at their ebay rep, and see that they don't have enough negative feedback to put them out of business. They didn't satisfy their customers' orders is why they're all pissed off at My Atomic. They're only trying to sell off the rest of the stock they have left before closing the doors forever. Why they'd offer things they don't have to sell is beyond me.  I guess a lot of that is disorganization. They need to update their software to refelect what they have left to sell. They're no longer on ebay, and all communication is now cut off from the outside world, so getting a reply is impossible.

He didn't lock the thread, he locked his quote bar, so you can't reply using "autoquote" to use his quote directly in your own post. As you can see - I quoted him anyway!   Hmm

Cobra Chris, that Paypal info was posted on their on Facebook page and My Atomic also posted the same thing over a well known RC forum. The same thing also happened on their You Tube video tour and it was also shut down. They used to have the ''follow me'' link on their index page to FB and You Tube and both were removed, however the video is still up with some warm comments:

Quote from an RC forum:

"MyAtomic is currently processing orders placed on the site for clearance
items. The company hasn't went out of business, but we are in a major
holding pattern because PayPal has decided to hold hundreds of thousands
from our cash flow. Our lawyers are trying to work on a resolution with
PayPal. Their legal department is very slow to respond. If you Google search
lawsuits against PayPal you will see we aren't the only business with this
issue. As for orders not processed, the only way to get your money back for
non-shipped orders is to dispute the balance that is still owed to you with
your bank. PayPal will not let ANY money be refunded to our customers! We
apologize for not responding to each individual concern.

Over the past seven years we had built one of the best hobby sites all

because we listened to you our customers. Our sales were always records and
our company was profitable. This year we were on track to do 10 million in
sales this year, up 55% from last year and without a doubt would have hit
that number. So we know what we were doing is what our customer wanted. We
thank all of our past customers for their support and wish you the best in
your hobbies.

Sincerely,

Jon Bransfield

President
MyAtomic.com"

People are not pissed because they are not fulfilling orders, *we* are pissed because our CC's are charged but nothing is dispatched. According to some people in the know, Jon Bransfield is 29 years old.
