Thanks guys, it's good to know the figures are worth the price.

I have another question. From what I can gather, the Daimler ( Dingo ) MK III is a decent kit.  I'm new to military modeling and have been looking for some reference photos for a 1/72 Mustang and Spitfire as well as this Dingo. I like to weather models but find most of the old photos you find on the internet are not very good quality. Where do you folks usually get your weathering references?

I haven't built any of either, but the figures from Masterbox in the test photos look pretty cool. Both seem to offer unique poses and eclectic sets.

I have lots of figure sets from both makers in my stash. In the box the look pretty good. They are only marginally less detailed than Dragon's latest sets and on par with their earlier work. I have built roughly one set worth of figures from each maker so far and have been happy with the results. Their scale is good alongside other figures from other makers. I can not comment on any of their vehicle kits. For the price and selection they are certainly worth purchasing.

Yes, that is a  help.  A good in depth review of a few of their kits. I think it is worth doing a bit of extra work. The main thing I am looking for is good detail for a good price ( who isn't ? ).  I can handle a bit of flash. I personally find it hard to justify the high price that goes along with some of the higher end kits. One could spend a fortune on a small collection!

Thanks again,

Here's some reviews on a few Mini-Art kits... http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/miniart/miniart.htm  Just scroll down in each article to where the figure's are discussed.

Oh, almost forgot here's a link to reviews on some Masterbox kits...... http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/masterbox/masterbox.htm

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your input Mg. Mikael. I find the prices are quite reasonable.  I suppose you get what you pay for. Unfortunately the other companies can be quite pricey.  I like the fact that alot of the Miniart vehicles come with figures. Do you find that the Miniart figures work well with other company's products? Are the figures themselves considered good quality/ detail?

How about Masterbox? Anybody familiar with their products?

Thanks

I don't have any experience with Masterbox kits, so I won't comment on those. Though I have built a Mini-Art kit once in a while. Basically their an Eastern Eurpoean brand meaning their moldings are just not up to par with Tamiya and Dragon kits. I'm not saying the kits are bad, it's just you need more TLC(tender loving care) to really make these kit's *pop* with detail. Since they may have more seams, ejector pin marks, and flash. They can be turned into stunning builds, but long story short you'll need to spend a bit more time on them, nevertheless it can pay off.

Just don't expect a Tamiya type kit where you can simply shake the box and the kit will fall together with ease. Expect to do abit more work.Wink

miniart and masterbox questions?
Posted by somefella on Saturday, July 24, 2010 10:03 AM

Hi guys, just wondering if some of you are familiar with Miniart and Masterbox figures and vehicles.  How are they for quality and detail? Also, does the figures scale work well with the same scale of other companies?

Thanks in advance,
