Exactly the same thought I had I mean when the replacements come I can have a full kit, after using the 2nd kits pieces to counter the 1st. And I can make the second kit another type of tomcat from possibly a squadron tests etc.

I had the same problem with my RoG Dash 5 Corsair... I lost or was missing the cowl and rather than order a replacement, I just bought another kit and used the cowl from that one to cast replacement...

Nuthin' wrong with two F4U Dash 5s... Now I can make one a Dash 5 and the other a Dash 5N...

I was wondering is it easier to just go ahead and instead of waiting til the end of December, just to get some parts and then rushing to finish the model, to buy a new kit for a low price and then complete the model? And when the parts come use them for the kit I just "took" the parts from, since 1 Tomcat will be complete?

Revell said that they aren't happy with the shipping being 12wks either, but such is life. So I'm think of getting a new exact kit and just finishing the model now instead of waiting around and not making progress. Whats your opinion?

Odd that it is taking so long then. I guess I'll call them and see what the hold up is?

I got parts from them twice this year. Both times they were here in 6 days. Once for a 66 Hertz Mustang and once for the 1/48 F-15. I just registerd at their website and ordered online.

So what you're saying is that this isn't uncommon? it normally takes this long right?

If they don't have the parts on hand they will have to wait until the next production run, whether that be a local boxing or one from RoG. If this was a problem during the run, you're probably not the only one requesting these parts. Also they have to pick the parts off full sprues just as those you see in your kit, which means robbing other complete kits for the parts.

Question on replacement parts
Posted by burner12 on Monday, September 6, 2010 6:19 PM
I ordered about six replacement parts for a 1/72 Tomcat that I'm building. To be exact they are all 3 landing gears. Bt anyway I called Revell and they rep said that it'd take 12 WEEKS smiley22.gif just to get them shipped? I can't believe that. I mean I'm not paying for anything, but is Revell good at shipping replacements or not? And does it take that amount of time to ship, sheesh!
