Question about Mirage Hobby Poland
Posted by oddmanrush on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 3:32 PM

Has any one had any experience with this manufacturer? I'm looking into buying a kit from them, specifically the Vickers E Mk A Light Tank but I want to know what kind of quality they produce. The kit is fairly cheap so it seems that even if it is a little shoddy, its not an entire waste of money.

Any tips, advice, assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Mirage quality is not too bad, but not too good.  The suspension in the Vickers kit originated with the Sponjia 7tp kit. Some of he details are a little soft, but most things can be improved with a little bit of work.   With a little care the kit will build up decent.  It is however the only Vickers in 1/35 plastic.  The tracks are the worst part of the kit, and the RPM track for the 7TP (351001) are reasonably priced replacement.

Bronto thanks for the tips. I've never built a Vickers so I guess I'll have to do some research to ensure the detail is in good order. The biggest thing I was worried about were the tracks, considering they were one piece vinyl - not something I like to work with! I'll try to find those 7TP tracks you speak of and work with those!

Thanks a bunch!

Hello oddmanrush . I agree with BRONTO ,but,in the same vein I only have two of MIRAGE,S kits that are NOT ships. The ships ain,t bad from the standpoint of doing upgrades to make them look good.My 1/400 U.S.S. WARD is an awesome little kit ,but, I venture to say the SOVIET M.B.T I got leaves a lot to be desired. tankerbuilder
