Trumpeter Panzerlok BR 57

I just read the review of the aforementioned model in FSM. It has fit issues and has no decals or detail painting instructions. Then I looked at the price, $190 srp! That seems to be a very steep price for what I would consider a less than top quality kit. For the price you should at least get a kit that fits without so much work. The locomotive is huge but I can't see that much plastic in it. The only real detail is in the running gear under the engine so if you want to add detail, it can't be seen. I just don't get it.

It may lack things, but let's face it if you want that kit it's the only game in town. Thus Trumpeter can feel free to charge almost anything they want, since they have no competition from Dragon or Tamiya. Plus it's a big kit, (not like a Panzer 1 in 1/35) this behemoth measures 21" long that's almost two feet fully assembled. Yikes no shelf space over on my end.Wink

Oh, and I already found a place selling it for $150, hope that takes away some of the price shock... http://store.spruebrothers.com/135-trumpeter-german-br57-armored-steam-locomotive-219-p23322.aspx
