Thanks a lot of your quick replies Supression and Hans. Thanks for the non-rubber heads up. Will go with OD then.

OD is the primary color of that bridge (or any US Army bridge for that matter), but the pontoons have wood decks that could show massive amounts of weathering on them, ie: paint scuffed, chipped, worn off, etc, so wood would show through, and the bridge sections would show a lot of steel (unless there's been a bunch of recent traffic on a rainy day, then you got mud) through the decks and a lot of chipping on the panels...  Those things are HEAVY and get banged around a LOT... Everything is moved via manpower and a truck winch..

Best thing you can do is to vary your OD shades among the three main componets and let the weathering do the rest... BTW, there's no rubber on that kind of pontoon bridge..

My best guess would be the pontoons are rubber & unpainted. Depending on the design the decking is wood with metal trusses. A newer set would be Olive drab or shade of it, if it has been used a few times expect heavy weathering in the form of scratches, dust & dirt from transport and rust. These bridges were assembled fast and tore down quick as well, weather & wear accordingly.

Idea Search Dragon models. They have some German WWII pontoon bridge kits, the box art is in color and should help.

Pontoon Bridge, what color?

Guys, I grabbed the 1:76 Airfix kit at my local hobby shop for a diorama. The artwork on the box shows an OD Green shade. Thing is that I have built some 1/72 GMC trucks a few months ago to be used with the bridge. These vehicles are already OD Green. Is OD green the only color for the pontoon bridge? I have looked around with no luck. Unless I have no choice, I wouldn't like to have too much OD on my dio.

Thanks in advance.
