Germans and dinosaurs?!
Posted by CallSignOWL on Saturday, November 6, 2010 9:36 PM

I was just goofing around and searching Squadron for dinosaur stuff, when I came across this description for a T-Rex: "Approximately 10 inches tall. A great school science project or maybe... just maybe... something involving a German Panzergrenadier on dinosaur back circa 1946!"

I dunno why, but it made me giggle! I'm glad to see someone has a since of humor!

I dont know why, but I started thinking about fighting gun-totin' german shepherds in Medal of Honour on Playstation.

I was thinking of vintage 'Sargent Rock & Sargent Furry w/ Easy company' comic books with blue Panzer IV's battling T-Rex dinosaurs. 'Star Wars' borrowed a lot of 'Nazi' symbolism, weapons and style from the third Reich. Their 'heavy laser gun' looks a lot like the MG 42. The desert scenes include a Storm trooper mounted on a giant lizard similar to the above cartoon.

It think it would make for a excellent 'what if' diorama in a science fiction category in a model contest, if a vintage comic book could be found the cover would support the idea, like a back drop to the scene.

Maybe a 'Dinosaur vrs....' 2011 GB? the possibilities are endless!

Now I am on a roll remember the movie (early 80's) where a WWII German Mk VII submarine found a porthole in time to the age of Dinosaurs and fought them from the decks with various small arms? Bonus point for the name of said movie:

Their 'heavy laser gun' looks a lot like the MG 42.

In the scene on Hoth where the stormtroopers entered the base, they were setting up a Lewis gun to shoot at the Falcon.. But they used MG-15s, MG-42s, as well as Sten guns too..

Solo's "blaster" was a an old "broomhandle" Mauser pistol..  During filming, the guns actually fired blank ammo, so the special effects guys knew where to put the "blaster bolts" in, as well allowing the actors to react to the shots..

Here's a trained racing T-Rex.  The rider needs work.

And then there's the ant's farm project theat got out of control:

The colony includes people walking near the clear cover along a railing, a waterfall, buildings, an observatory on the top and a rocket being readied for launch.

That's uber-freaky, Wirr. I was lying in bed last night (before reading this thread TODAY)  trying to remember what game that was in.I finally recalled it was the "bonus" level inMoH with the Nazi castle stronghold. Man that was a hard level! Lot's of fun though. I'll have to unpack my PSX again now!

As near as I can figure you're talking about The Land that Time Forgot.

U-boat goes to the Antarctic with Doug McClure aboard. I think they sunk his ship and then picked him up.

The comic book you want is The War that Time Forgot. Series published by D.C. in I'm going to say the sixties. I was never  much of a D.C. reader.
