First Airbrush ?
Posted by MLabonte on Monday, November 8, 2010 7:10 PM

Well, just recieved my first airbrush I purchased off ebay " $20.00 " and I must say this throws a whole new spin on thing's ! Always did spray bomb or hand painted my models before but this little thing can come in handy.

I'm using Tamiya Arcylics and thinner and using a 2/1 mix and seems to be coming out of the gun quiet well, obviously there is going to have to be alot of practice to gather any kind of skill to airbrushing but I'm looking forward to using this alot more often in the near future.

Congrats Matt

True, an airbrush does offer a lot of options.

You didn't mention what type you purchased....  ?    At $20.00 it sure sounds like you got a good deal.

Tamiya Acrylics are great paints. Experiment with others as well (I am partial to the acrylic lines myself). Best of luck and hope to see some airbrushed postings in the future.

Enjoy the ride!

there is no " name brand " on the air brush itself, I paid .99 cents for the airbrush and $15.00 for shipping. I know there are some great quality airbrushes out there but wanted to try it out first at a low cost ! My brother in-law has a couple of Badgers and after showing him this one he said it was just as quality as his $99.00 ones and up.

I was shocked on how easy it was to set up and clean " from the good folk's of FineScale and reading article in the forum on care and cleaning as'well as set up ", Set my PSI at 20 went with a 2/1 ratio and it was dead on !!! No runs, blobs, clogs, it was a nice feeling.

Waited to do a Sub that I had purchased that I know I wanted to do with a airbrush or attempt to try and now the chance is here, hopefully have it done by next week and will post some pic's.

Take Care

Good for you on the purchase. I couldn't believe the difference of an AB over brush painting. Like night and day.
