squadron shipping to canada?
Posted by Longbranch on Friday, November 12, 2010 4:43 PM

hi board members. I havn't bought anything from Squadron for awhile, but it looks like the way they calculate shipping to canada has changed, am I wrong? the method of going to a seperate website and really guessing on the weight and dimensions of the items I am buying seems silly and inconvenient...

I suggest you order the items from Sprue Brothers as their shopping cart gives you the price of shipping up front. Typically you'll even get a little back as they charge actual shipping costs. I like that I can see up front ALL of the costs before I commit to purchase...not watching my CC statement to see what they charged me after the fact. Sprue Brothers also accepts PayPal!

i would say you've read my mind...and I order 99% of the stuff I need from spruebrothers, but the vacu-form canopy I need for my 1/72 tamiya mustang can only be purchased on squadron, i stepped on the kit supplied canopy...

Email Gordon asking him to order it for you...he might decide to stock it.

Being from Canada myself I'm always more concerned with the method of shipping:

USPS - good.

UPS - be ready for a $15 - $30 customs processing fee at your door!

If you select a premium service, not basic ground, those fees are included in the shipping fees.

I live in Alberta and order things from Squadron.I have always been please with their shipping charges as well as their speedy shipments.

I order from various out of country dealers and eBay purchases. I have never had to pay for customs on any of them and that includes model kits in larger boxes. It seems that you never have to worry about customs for sure if it comes airmail and especially if in an envelope.

I also seldom pay, except if I ship with anything other than USPS. That is, if its shipped with FedEx or UPS, you will usually pay customs fees.

As for Squadron, their shipping charges to Canada are usually reasonable.
