Thanks for the birthday wishes, all! It's 31...so of pretty much zero significance. Now that I've gotten back into modeling, I was asked to make a list for my b-day and Christmas, since nobody else in the family can get much deeper than maybe calling a P-51 or Corsair out of a lineup. Didn't expect to get half of these, and just for my birthday, no less!
ww2psycho - funny, mine's molded in light gray. Maybe you've got the one with the car? I actually wouldn't have minded black, though, as I'm planning to build it up as an all-black NF.II...
tigerman - it's a sweet kit looking at the sprues. I was kinda surprised how small it is. Also, I don't think very highly of the link-and-length tracks. They look nice, but the length that runs over the top of the wheels is sort of shallowly curved, when the little included photo reference sheet shows extremely saggy tracks. I decided to spend the money I didn't spend on the kit on some friuls for it...
Tony - Hammer will be so sad!
hutch - the wife and I both tend to have extremely specialized interests, so we tend to go with lists rather than "it's the thought that counts". Because, honestly, I don't expect her to know the difference between Tamiya's different Mosquito kits. Just like she doesn't expect me to know jack about sewing or scrapbooking. But I do tend to do the better job of remembering two or three things she mentions she wants with enough precision that I can track them down without needing a list...
