Haul!
Posted by DoogsATX on Friday, December 17, 2010 7:56 PM

So my birthday came and went Monday, and pretty much sucked in every way imaginable (including the half-hour drive home taking two hours...when I'd planned to meet the family for dinner...). All I got was a coffee mug since my presents were still on their way.

Fast forward to today...parents came in for the holidays...USPS showed up...and I'm one happy modeler! Between the parents, in-laws, wife, and kids (i.e. wife in disguise), I got:

- Tamiya BT-7

- Tamiya Mosquito FB VI/NF II

- Eduard Hellcat Mk. I/II Dual Combo

- Tamiya Fi 156C Storch

and...

a pre-order slot for Wing-Scale's B-25J Strafer!

Just wanted to share with people who'd appreciate the bounty! Can't wait to build some of these!

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

All in 1/48 scale accept the pre-order? Cool bunch of kits, my favorite out of the group would be:

- Tamiya Mosquito FB VI/NF II

Of course with AM decals for Canadian units*

The BT-7 is 1/35, but yeah, the others are all 1/48.

I've got a soft spot for RCAF units...have to see if they fielded any NFs, since I'm planning the Mossie for the nightfighter GB...

Ive got that mossie too, the only thing I dont like about it is its molded in black plastic, IMO I wish everyone would stick to a grey plastic since 99% of moders (the other 1% being young kids) paint their models.

I'd love to have that BT-7. I'll wait for it to drop first.

Nice score and happy birthday to you.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all! It's 31...so of pretty much zero significance. Now that I've gotten back into modeling, I was asked to make a list for my b-day and Christmas, since nobody else in the family can get much deeper than maybe calling a P-51 or Corsair out of a lineup. Didn't expect to get half of these, and just for my birthday, no less!

ww2psycho - funny, mine's molded in light gray. Maybe you've got the one with the car? I actually wouldn't have minded black, though, as I'm planning to build it up as an all-black NF.II...

tigerman - it's a sweet kit looking at the sprues. I was kinda surprised how small it is. Also, I don't think very highly of the link-and-length tracks. They look nice, but the length that runs over the top of the wheels is sort of shallowly curved, when the little included photo reference sheet shows extremely saggy tracks. I decided to spend the money I didn't spend on the kit on some friuls for it...

Tony - Hammer will be so sad!

hutch - the wife and I both tend to have extremely specialized interests, so we tend to go with lists rather than "it's the thought that counts". Because, honestly, I don't expect her to know the difference between Tamiya's different Mosquito kits. Just like she doesn't expect me to know jack about sewing or scrapbooking. But I do tend to do the better job of remembering two or three things she mentions she wants with enough precision that I can track them down without needing a list...
