An hour ago I started on putting together the 1949 Mercury by putting together the engines. The regular engine and then the custom street hot rod engine. They were pretty easy to put together. The only small parts were the little oil filter stick things.

Some weird but cool accessories came inside the model kit. a bag of  trophies which I dunno what to do with them LOL and then other stuff like an engine block holder thing, and then some small mechanic tools to put inside the car model's trunk.

AMT/Ertl sure packed alot of stuff in that model kit box. Dunno why they would add a bag of little trophies though...

I have put many of those together. The kit was and as far as I know always AMT. Yes REVELL now has it but I don,t know why. The other thing to be on the watch for is this ,if you want to build a stock merc you can,t do it with the new release as it comes with a chopped top!! I still cannot fathom why they didn,t give the option along the style of the 57 CHEVY another old AMT goodie. If you get the MERC that shows a BLACK car on the box you will find the stock automobile.   tankerbuilder
