I just read on yahoo that these 2 model companies are filing for bankruptcy. I will post a link to it later.

That does not bode well for the industry.

I'm callin' BS on this. It has to be a (stupid) April Fool's prank.

I just did searches for both 'Tamiya Bankruptcy' and 'Dragon Models Bankruptcy' and found squat (at least recently). There are plenty of old threads from other forums, including one on 'Tanks in World War 2' suggesting the same thing, but from 2008. Funny thing is, that thread started on 1 April as well.

Throw in RoG and it will be a perfect trifecta. I guess Airfix will buy all the unused molds, make the panel lines deeper and rerelease the kits.

The stash could keep me going for about 2 1/2 years if I take my time.

Otherwise, I'll have to spend more time at the shooting range. Wink

Actually paper targets.  Choice of HK91 (7.63mmNATO), AR-15 (5.56mm), M1911A1 pistol, HK Compact USP in .45ACP, Mauser Kar-98 or Springfield M1903A3.  I've embraced diversity.  There's more, but I hate to brag. Big Smile

I've had the HK91 since 1985. Only mods are the addition of a bayonet lug and an AK74-type muzzel break.  Shoots very flat out to 200 yards.  Anything farther away deserves a field artillery fire mission.

AR-15 was purchased in 1978.  Replaced original upper receiver with one that has a forward assist.  Also sighted in at 200 yards.

KAR-98 is a "Russia Capture"  manufactured in 1937.  Don't recall place of manufacture and I don't feel like searching for my Mauser reference book.

Shooting and model building are cheaper than playing golf or owning a boat. Cowboy

MajMike: you have a good wife who lets you keep the toys for such a long time!

A peacetime K-98 is very good quality metal / manufacturing, even though it went through a war.

Much safer for shooting than a post 1943.

Not sure these days about shooting being cheaper than golf , but definitely cheaper than boats !

I've got enough guns, ammo and models to last me 'til I'm dead.  My goal is to get the ammo stash to one million before I KTFB.

If only this is true..Then we might

- see a reduction of the whiners complaining about this part does not line up with that line drawing that's floating around the net and is not even necessarily correct

- they all take up sewing instead!

- an increase of actual modelers as opposed to assemblers

Why does this has to be in April..

They might as well file bankruptcy.  I wonder how much plutonium will be in their plastic?
