Ok, Guys and Gals.

We are still and always will be accepting requests for joining.
Remember it is FREE and all it takes is a quick cut/paste on your side and a short form to fill in.

Don't worry about cleaning your site up or similar prior to joining.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

Anybody that has applied to join the webring and hasn't received the code for the navigation panel, pls, contact me ASAP.

I can either sent it to you or let you have a URL from where you can download it

Thanks.

P.S.: Webring members that want to streamline their sites and make it smaller can also contact me, one site I checked I found that I can reduce 1 file from 64kb down to 10kb. Wink [;)]

Something a little bit off-topic.

When you design your Web-sites, stay away as far as possible from htl editors and tools that will help you generate the code.

They add between 30~90% useless code into your web-site making it harder to debug and maintain plus wasting valuable server space and slowing downloads/access down.

Get one of the FREE online HTML guides and start coding your own, it is honestly easy and you can learn the basics in a few hours.

I at the most use tools for basic layout designs but everything else gets done in notepad. There are a few good tools out for Web-design, but they ain't for free.

Here are a few things that can help to cut down on unwanted code:
1.) Don't insert/delete things a lot, normally the text/images are removed but many tags are left behind.
2.) Don't use frames or layers unless you got a need for them.
3.) I you need to align text, resize text or similar DO NOT do it line by line, but rather in larger blocks. Everytime you tell the Software to do something it WILL generate new code.
4.) Deactivate automatic reformating of code, some software packages will modify ANY opened html file you got to their own "strandard".
5.) Most HTML Editors don't worry about the code being human readable, assuming that all your editing will be done with their tool.
6.) After you edited the html code using a tool, open the html file in notepad and REMOVE any dupliate or not needed tags.
Example:
If all your text is in one colour, set the colour in the Body tag and remove all the "Font" tags that set the colour.
Same with "Center", "Font size", "Class", and so on.
The more you let default the better it will be displayed/interpreted on the viewers machine.
7.) HTML tags are like On/Off Switches:
Example:
<CENTER> will center EVERYTHING until the </CENTER>
Coding multiple and nested tags where 1 set would do only results in wasted CPU resources on the viewers machine.

What packages would I recommend, in general the simpler the package the better. Netscape has a decent basic html editor build into their browser. Microsoft(any of theirs) "html" editing generates the MOST unwanted and unneeded code, IMHO.

For GOOD editing Software get hold of Fireworks/Dreamweaver, this is the most used package by the professionals out there.

Again all the Editors WILL put unneeded code into your website.

Ok, back to checking sources of the websites on the Webring.

Anybody else wanting to join up??

Shermanfreak:

Thanks, for adding the navigation panel.
One favour to ask can you remove the width & heights restriction that you placed on the Logo. 32 x32 is a wee bit small.

No great hurry, but I would like to keep all the navigation panels looking the same.

Thanks.

Ok, the code was sent.

All you need is to cut and paste it into your code, no mods are needed.

Even if you got it up on your page it won't affect the webring as your Site is not in the Database yet.

You can access the Webring via the navigation panel, but nobody navigating the webring will find your site till it is in the Database.

More worried about sites that are already in the Database, but where people haven't added the navigation panel yet as those sites are now broken links and the ring is not complete till they do.

When you are ready fill in the join request and i will have your Site added to the Database within 24hrs.

BTW, thanks for joining the Webring. Same goes to the others that have submitted their Sites.

That would be fine, MMF.

As you can see, I am redoing some pages of my site and these are not available as of the moment. I don't want surfers to get irritated and get a bad impression of the webring because of it. I'll be through with the site by next week.

Ok, guys.

Lets get this Baby on the road. :D

Send me your join requests via the URL below:

Join Request Form

Don't worry no special skills are needed to fill in the form, or to cut/paste the little bit of code needed to get your site functional on the webring.

Anyhuh, here goes.

International Modelers Webring

Ok, I will start to take request for inclusion into the webring from now on,pls , don't flood me with requests though(maintenance is a manual code editing process).

Sites are added in the order that I receive the E-Mails, it might take 2 or 3 days before I can get back to you though and you will get the code snippet that you will need to include on your site.

Ok, guys and gals.

I have decided on a name for the Webring and also created the Logo.

The name will be:
International Modelers Webring

Logo:

The Webring will consist of members coming from a variety of countries as well as genres and different materials that are used in kit building.

To become elligible for listing in the webring you will need to follow a few simple rules and guidlines:
1.) NO commercial or business websites will be accepted, you can only apply for Web-sites that a) belong to you b) showcase models you build yourself c) Sell/Trade your OWN creations/buildup(as long as it does not fall into the business category).
2.) No pure reference sites will be added, your site might contain a section of reference materials and that is fine.
3.) Tips and techniques sites are welcome.
4.) If you think a site is worthwhile to be included contact the webring admin(me) and suggest the site, I will follow up and contact the site owner.
5.) Any Site will only be included ONCE only, no multiple listings for different sections.
6.) Webring members need to make sure that their pages include the navigation panel on the SAME page that the webring links to.
7.) Any broken links, non-available pages should be reported to the Webring admin(me).

I am still updating the tools for the webring and also making a few cosmetic changes, I will start to take request for joining soon (watch this space).

After I get a join request I will review the site to make sure it meets the criteria, if it does I will send a reply e-mail with the "navigation panel" code to be added.
Once this has been added to the site(notification from site-owner needed), I will activate the site on the webring.
It may take a few days for the whole process to be done.

See you guys soon.

This'll be sure to crack ya'll up:
What's a Web-Ring?

It is something easy and at the same time complex, it is a method of linking/grouping related web-sites together.

Each member site features a small panel from which you can navigate to other sites within the ring, if you keep clicking the "next" button it will take you through all the sites in the ring.
The last(newest) site being linked to the original(oldest) site and thus completing the ring.

The original site usually hosts a small database with all the information of the members sites in the ring and in which sequence they are linked.

And now I know what a web-ring is! Thanks, MMF.

It does indeed sound like a good idea.

As for a name...hmmm...
How about :
Love That Plastic
