Tamiya redoing things?

Dunno---wish they would put out new kits instead...

They are relabeling paints and thinners to make them compliant with US law.  Some of their stuff has been difficult to find because of that.

Thank goodness, our government is protecting us from improper hobby paint labels!

Well I never had much luck at deciphering a Gunze label... The same reason that their Aqueous line went away here Stateside. It would be nice to have all relevent information in English if they are gonna sell their product here, in accordance with US laws.

Really, what do we need to know? It's paint - don't drink it & you'll be fine!

Double the issue up here in NB, look at the tiny writing on a Humbrol enamel tin... now cut that in half to make room for french!

Unfortuantly these days they have to allow for the people who don't realise things like paint are not meant to be drunk. And they try to sue the company for not telling them that.

Eh. They're fine as long as you thin them with a little scotch or a good tequila. Partial to an Olive Green on the rocks, myself...

I cant find thinner and the hardest paint for me to find right now is Dark Yellow (XF-60).

Why cant ModelMaster make a acrylic paint as good as Tamiya's ? And why cant Tamiya issue its paint with FS numbers ?

Not sure about the first question, but as to the second, if they went down that route they would also have to give them the relevant BS, RLM, RAL and all the other numbering systems. There are places you can find converson tables. And of course not all their colours relate to an FS number.

Idiot proofing paint, good on ya. Unless its designed to be food, dont eat it (and get your minds out of the gutter) Even if it says non-toxic, assume it is, just for arguments sake.

Remember, we're living in a world where Macca's has to put a warning on their coffee cups to tell people that the contents are hot just to cover themselves (no pun intended) against liability claims from people who may burn themselves.

This is true, i actually saw a lighter the other day with "caution,Flammable liquid" on the side of it, well duh, thats what its for.

"I have a nut allergy, does this bag of peanuts contain any traces nuts?" 

Look at your average brown box consumer product these days!

In days gone by, goods like these generally arrived with a set of comprehensive instructions, specifications & sometimes with plans & wiring diagrams. Fast forward a couple of decades & your instruction booklet is generally filled with H&S advice & only contains a poor & incomplete token gesture toward the use of said equipment, the warranty bumph also often outweighing usefully content.

"Do not operate this printer while immersed in water  ** possibility of serious injury to operator & others **",  what next "Do not attempt to eat the power transformer when live ** possibility of extremely bad taste**"

Instructions booklet you say ? Seems like a web site is the standard referal for instructions these days .

It was simpler in the past. All we needed to know was "Don't eat the yellow snow."

Actually, "Not Legally Marked" has been a reason for not allowing customs entries for products for at least 3 decades that I know of. I worked weith customs Inspectors and it was considered a cheap and easy hit as there were so many products that don't make those rquirements.

Talking about Humbrol paints, I wish the acrylic line had more then just the paint number on the label. I have to keep a copy of their paint listings to know what paint I have.

A simple "THIS IS NOT PAINT" on X-21 Flat Base really would be a life & sanity saver!

Just use rubbing alcohol, preferably 80 or 90% for thinner
